Thanks for your reply. I have another question. Are the doors on a GTO the same as the doors on a standard 308/328 GTB or are they slightly different to account for the longer wheelbase?

Wow that was fast! thanks. BTW I'm eagerly awaiting your 288 GTO book. It looks like its going to be fantastic!

Regarding the door differences between the GTO and the 308/328 GTB, where could I find specific info particularly in regards to the differences in dimension?

Regarding the book, youll have to tune in to my website or www.veloce.co.uk for news. I suspect we are about a year off press.

Regarding the doors: I have no idea what the relative dimensions are exactly save to say that they must be very similar - we would have to get the 2 cars side-by-side for a documented comparison.

However, the differences are in the details and the material. The 288 GTO has a redesigned inner panel and the door latch is different for example. Overall dimensions and thickness are unknown to me at the moment but we will soon find out.

Also, the 288 GTO's doors are basically glass-fiber molds of the same design as the 308's, and don't feel very heavy to hand (the rest of the car consists of a Nomex/glass-fiber composite and a Nomex/Kevlar composite).

Judging from cutout illustrations, the 308 and 288 GTO doors are very close in dimension, but again, actually measuring a car would be the best was to establish this. The 308 door is the top illustration, and the 288 GTO door is the bottom one.

Wow. That's just fantastic. Thanks so much. Amazingly you seem to have done exactly what I am about to embark on...A 288 GTO modeled in Solidworks.

Not only does he let them sit in them, on this occasion they are driving them.
This all part of a charity event in aid of 'Children in Need' where seven couples pledged large sums of money for this opportunity.

The convoy left Chris's Berkshire home yesterday morning, stopping off at the Haynes Motor Museum, moving along to the New Forest and eventually on to Goodwood by Sunday where the cars will be presented in front of the house at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Wow, thank you for sharing the pics and the video. I am not a huge fan of white but to see a white 288 GTO and F40 is very awesome. Cheers.

No...just a 288 GTO that randomly met with a team practicing for the TdF on streets of Monaco.
