Yourself and probably quite a few others here have had experience in importing a car in and mind if i ask if you could break down a bit of that figure?

    30k GBP is $61k AUD

    $61k + 10% GST + 10% Customs works out to be roughly $74k AUD

Genuinely curious about where does the other 10k go?

    whats shipping worth?

also granted its coming in under the old 15 year rule so no RAWS compliance costs necessary?

    DOH! haha

i just remembered about Luxury car tax

which is $5k on a car worth $74k

Thanks to KRudd its now 33% :(

so that leaves around 5k for shipping and agents fees by your original figure. is that doable for 5k?

    remember to take VAT off.
Simple rule convert the pound to $ and add 30% plus shipping at 8k.

I was considering this a few times but always came up trumps and the extra luxury car tax really pushed it further away.Actually was looking at a 328GTB which was from memory 34K pounds and it would have come to around $105K more or less by the time it landed
The break down was around $70KAUD for the car +4K shipping +10%duty +10%GST +8K LCT +1-2K for insurance + other suff that comes up,steam cleaning, having the refrigerant removed before it comes in and then come compliancig which can be another couple of grand as well, but make sure the car is pre 89 build.Doctor Pless went through this with me as well and this is the amount give or take. The car has to be around the 20Kpound mark to be worth the while.

    Great looking car................minus the sh*t wheels. :D:D

I thought that would have sold by now. He wants $130K or nearest offer. I wonder if he has had any offers? :):)

Its an import, with no documentation, has been re-painted, has dodgy wheels and for $130k you can probably pick up an Aussie Complied 355 (in some instances anyway).

my guess is $100k is as much as its worth, if he's lucky enough to find someone who can overlook all of the above.

Thats what I was thinking also!! :):)

NO WAY he would get $130K for it. But he said nearest offer and I would have thought someone would have picked it up by now for less than $130K. :):)

Perhaps it is a little rough inside?? ;);)

It doesn't make sense to me that any 355 in good nick can be that cheap when i KNOW aussie 328s in good nick are going for around 100k and non aussie ones for 90k...esp when a 355 is so superior and, unlike the newer cars, still involving.

    I would pay much more for a 355 than a 328 or 308.

I guess potentially a different market,

people shopping for a 3X8 car are probably a little more Mature (not to offend) and these cars are a bit more iconic to them and from their hay day, so they look toward those rather than an F355. where i think the 355 & Diablo will most likely be that same era for me as i get older, and probably the F430 for those kids who are in their teens now.

i was actually negotiating on a car down in sydney, but turned out it was a Personal Import once all was said and done, so i didnt go ahead. (was a very good price though)
