The one I seem to remember best is he's in that Merc CLK smoking a cigarette and flipping the bird (I think). I'm sure it's on here somewhere. I remember seeing that and thinking "right on!" Can someone dig that up?

I always enjoyed reading Johns postings on this site. He seemed like an interesting person and sounded like a genuinely good guy. I will always look up to his success, and most importantly the type of generosity and liveliness he is recognized for having. Although I had never had the opportunity to meet him, his image will not be forgotten. RIP John.

RIP John. Thanks for inspiring me to get into business doing what I love. Thanks for the amazing lunches at Ivy as well. Vodka and Cranberry drinks and plates of Asparagus every time. Man he was a great guy. Funny as hell and LOVED to talk cars. I remember the first time he took me to the "Garage" at BH hotel. I almost passed out at the collection he had there. John took the time to explain the history of every car in there to me. You will always be remembered.

John reached out to me couple times via PM and even offered to meet up when I was going through the break up; completely unsolicited and genuine.

We have lost a great member of our community.

    RIP John

I wish I had met him or atleast spoken with him on the forum because he is so highly thought of here which say's alot about his character and the man he will be remembered as. My outlook seem's to be the same as his was about life and friendship, truelly a sad loss. Once again I send my condolences to his family and his friend's here for your loss.

I don't usually post in anything other than my local section and the 550 section BUT...

    I have two thoughts:

    1) What a shame, he seemed like a seriously genuine guy and instant friend. I'm sure he touched many lives-- seemed like a hell of a passionate, open, and giving individual.

    2) HOWEVER, I think it's a bit inconsiderate to be doing drugs that can KILL with a fiance and two sons. I'm not sure if that is something I'd be able to forgive, though I understand he was the type of person who people can love even with such a terrible past time.

Regardless, it is what it is and we all have to realize life stops when you die. All we can do is leave memories... good and bad, so be weary of this. RIP.

Addiction is truelly a terrible thing yet that is all in the past now. I have lost 5 truelly close friend's to suicide yet I remember them for how they enriched my life not for their flaw's and that is how John should be remembered.

Last time I saw John I had to tell the door guy at the BULLRUN TV party that if he didn't let John in I was out.....Had fun jumping the 40th that night on every speed bump in LA. John had the DTM out and Ben in a jeep and a few other cars..... Life is short. Stay safe...Jeff

I only met John a few times, but I have very distinct memories of each. The word generous is nowhere near enough to describe him. The second time I met him, I rode in his Enzo to VCR. However, John wasn't driving - he was in the CLK DTM, and Steve (Redd430) was driving the Enzo. I remember Steve joking that he hadn't even ridden in an Enzo - he'd only driven one (John's). That day, John brought out the Enzo, the CLK DTM, the Maybach, the convertible Mustang GT500, and who knows what else. I also remember being in the garage at the BH Hotel, and was absolutely blown away. I was helping him put 5 gallon barrels of race gas into the trunk of a Bentley, surrounded by some of the most amazing cars I'd ever seen, and they were all his.

These two pictures are from that day. One is a photo of Steve's hand with a cigar in it, and John's Enzo in the background. For me, it captured the feeling of VCR back then. I've had it hanging on the wall in my office for the last few years. The other is a photo of me in front of the Enzo. You'll notice that John put a "Village Coffee Roaster" sticker on top, I assume as a thanks to Dustin for everything he has done for the weekly gathering.

I'm glad to read that my limited experiences with John accurately reflect the kind of person he was day in and day out. The impact he made on my life is infinitely larger than the amount of time I was around him, and it sounds like those of you who met him feel the same. I only wish I could have thanked him.

I can add to that by saying, all the money in the world can't buy you good decisions. But regardless, you can't even start to judge because every situation is different in the details. Addiction is beyond anything many of us know how to deal with, and that's why we make the conscious choice not to get involved.

Again.. he was a man of great character, and good intent.

That sum's it up imho. If I was as financialy previledged as John was I would/will be the same way. I used to let my dear friend Ronnie (RIP) drive my 500hp MR2T to do errand's when his car was in the shop, he loved and respected that car as if it was his own and returned it everytime with out a dent.

Oh man. I didn't know John that well, just a few AIM messages and PMs, but from the little I talked to him he seemed like a really nice guy.

My thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. He will be missed...

    RIP John

I had sent him a PM this one time telling him that I was in the area and if he was going to hit any meets. Replied telling me we should meet up and I can personally check out his collection.

Great guy, sad to see him go.

Does anyone have that pic where he's pulling out of his driveway in the dtm and the garage is open and you can see the carrera gt and the slr. I loved that picture and have actually been looking for it for a long long time now.
