It was Jas Rarewala, Trefor Thomas and Dan Morgan. Partners, but not brothers. Jas passed away a few years ago, as did Dan. Trefor is still around, and his encyclopedic knowledge of that era remains intact.
Now I remember who the 2 brothers whose names I used to see in alot of the books of the time: Fred & Armin Johl What was their involvement with Lamborghini back then? Mike
Fred is around and splits his time between Florida & Germany. He no longer owns a Lamborghini (his last was the famed Countach 1121090) and he told me he thought he was lucky to be alive after owning that car! Armin has stayed in Germany and replaced his Miura SV and Countach S with a 288 GTO and F40. They ran the Seeger leather company in Germany.
A couple of FANATICS come across Armin's LP400S at the 1980 Monte Carlo Grand Prix weekend Bella Macchina! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone know the location of the ex-Malcolm Forbes 'money green' Countach? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Red with red interior, a rare combination, parked on the street in Tokyo... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another unusual combination, grigio with burgundy, quite handsome, although not a combination that was ever applied to a production LP400 by the factory... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Still have my R&T issue that gave me the exotic car bug when I was a kid. " Fastest Car We've Ever Tested" Image Unavailable, Please Login
I still have that issue too. It made a big impression when I was growing up. I believe I saw that car at the Kruse aution in the mid 70's, at least it was an LP400 in that color. One of these days I would like to make the drive from Phoenix to LA just for fun. Cheers Jim
I think it sold on ebay about 3years ago didn't it? I really like the S3's that were modified with the front wing. For the longest time I thought the Cannonball car was the only one. Anybody know how many were done and where they are? Any pictures to offer up?
Apparently on exhibit at the Towe Auto Museum http://www.toweautomuseum.org/html/display.html in Sacramento (?) http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2405391640077698672LZkmEA http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2390826450077698672UhEBgX http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2253468070077698672KLsAEQ
Which VIN is this car, 1121012 or more likely 1121026? Obviously a swiss registration, the Z says that it's not imported in switzerland, today Z-Numbers are to export cars, that what was done with Jalpa ELA12095 which went to belgium and is now is US. That time this was a common trick to save import taxes in germany, the cars were driven with this swiss registration and later imported to Germany as used cars. The problem is that you have no insurance coverage after 30 days, quite dangerous and illegal.
One of several he had so I don't know the chassis number. By the way, did this gathering occur is Switzerland recently? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bad luck... also his Miura SVJ #4806 had a swiss registration, tax optimization was already a theme those days. No, I think that was during the ILOC Meeting at Rimini, the LP400 is 1120038
Maybe not , if i where to stand there i would be looking for a yellow prototype , i didnt know it was red until now . I sure hope it still exsists somewhere
