I'd certainly not add shields, if they are not identical to factory original. Count me as one who things shields on the Cali tend to make the fenders too busy. The Cali has enough busy-ness going on already.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, please keep the opinions coming. There does seem to be a consensus that I leave the fenders as-is.
Andy, et al: I’ll be at Road America next weekend. if you’re going you can check out the car then.
Sorry to all those who are trying to look at pictures through all this discussion. But I do really appreciate the feedback!

If you really want the factory badges then you have to pass on this car and place a new order
and wait a couple of months?

Otherwise you buy this car and have the option for the dealer to install non-recessed badges?

I don't really know how the non-recessed badges look. Maybe this should not be an option? If you were to sell later on would the new owner appreciate the look?

In the pictures I think the car looks awesome! My vote is to take it as is!

Looks a lot cleaner without the shields with the black interior. Its more like a batmobile...just all black. With the tan interior I like the shields.

I'm glad to see all of these photos particularly of the black. It was difficult to choose the colors using the configurator as opposed to having seen actual cars. My California will be similar to craigdv except that I got cuoio interior and black inserts in seats. Quite honestly I love almost everyone that I've seen with or without shields.

My wife and I saw the first one in person last weekend. She said that loved its butt. She said the same about me many years ago and we're still together.

I'm glad to see they are now arriving. I'm hoping for next month.

I'm partial to shields on a black car...not sure how to describe it - but I think it adds something to the overall appearance.

Please let us know how much you are enjoying these new toys - I'm on the fence about ordering one, going to demo it this weekend.

Also - do you guys plan on using for a daily driver?

CRAIGDV: Your car looks awesome, very nice, you'll love it! I like the black piping and how it contrasts the tan interior. Did you get the car from Lake Forest Motor Cars in Northern IL? I ask, because I’ll be there on Saturday (with My Ferrari) and would love to see your car in person. I like the shields on your ride and want a closer look. :)

Today is my 2nd day with the car and I must say it is growing on me, big time. Already like it more than my F430. First, it is very drivable and is fast as hell. Probably at least as fast as the standard F430 in a straight line – however if you like to drive your car hard the F430 is tighter and easier to keep on the edge. The second thing about this car I like is how it attracts people. I have a Masarati Gran Turismo and (had) an F430 – this car gets way more looks and comments than both of those cars. Perhaps it's because people know it's a California and it's mot likelythe first one tehy've seen. Not sure, but people DO like it.

Given the price point ($230K with my options) (In my humble opinion) it was a wise move by Ferrari to add the bells and whistles. Tons of stuff, like the navigation, factory installed (and operational XM radio) CD Hard Drive and touch screen (all 10-times better than the Maserati). In all this car will no doubt have a following for a long time to come.

Did you include the magaride system? If yes, do you notice any significant difference?

I think it was fate that the shields were not placed on the car. Leave them off.

And for shields, either go factory-recessed or none. There is no middle ground on this issue.

If done correctly, you can tell almost no difference.

Since OEM shields are recessed (if what I read here is correct), then the problem with just adding your own shields is that it really can't be done correctly. IE, anyone can tell they aren't OEM shields. Years from now when lots of used Calis are for sale, it may not matter much. But I'm sure it will matter to anyone planning to buy a used Cali in the next few years.

Is that a metallic white? Does ferrari do metallic white? Like white but prefer a pearl or metallic white.

    Thanks
