Not everyone has the benefit of watching the race live, or for that matter, within the first 24 hours of the race.

If you feel the need to post spoiler threads, then use the word "SPOILER" in the title.

If you feel the need to post a spoiler, DON'T POST SPECIFICS IN THE THREAD TITLE.

Example "** SPOILER**VETTEL FINED AND BUMPED 10 SPOTS"

OR, "** SPOILER**Can you believe Hamilton won the race?"

Or, "Ferrari sucks, finishes 8 and 11 in Aussie race OOPS - SPOILER"

And on and on. Just adding the word SPOILER does not mean your thread title can give away race or post race results.

Those who must spoil in the title of a thread will get a ban that keeps them out of the action for any period of time deemed appropriate by the moderators. Spoiling is a bannable offense.

Thanks all for being so understanding.

Dave, my apologies on the Vettel fined thread. I really forgot not to mention the drivers name on the title of the thread.

The way it works is some people get banned while others, the title changes and nothing happens to the person.... Strange but true!

Did the person who posted the race result spoiling thread title here today get a ban? I just happened to look at F-chat this morning in the 5-1/2 hour window between the completion of the actual race and my local broadcast of it here when I saw that thread title on the front page. Dang!

Well there's folks who just don't give a toss about others and there's guys who make a genuine mistake, realise and seek to correct the title.

In this case unfortunately all the F1 mods were getting their allotted 20 mins sleep per day at the time.
Real efforts were made to have the title changed, however.

I think we got it within 10 minutes of it getting reported. Sorry I was away from my post here, HAVING A LIFE. :D I'll try to do better next time.

The thread starter reported HIMSELF with a "!" and we got it as soon as we could.

Only Rob can do that. Why delete your account? Because you posted a spoiler and now are catching some crap for it? Bear up under the pressure, it'll pass.

As I see it, Alex just made a genuine mistake - if you look at the post it did have the word "spoiler" in it, it just didn't show up for some reason in the title - apparently that thread has been removed. If those who don't want to know what happens in a race that's delayed, then why are they on the F1 racing section in the morning before the delayed broadcast. Alex's genuine mistake is at least better than what ABC apparently did (according to a post here on FChat) after the Indy Car race which ended just prior to the FOX coverage - NATIONAL TV had the F1 results streaming across the screen. Guess I just don't understand waiting to watch something when you can watch it when it occurs despite the fact you are in the us. I suspect the only way you can protect yourself is to take refuge in a closet from the outside world until the magic delayed start time.

    Come on back Alex!

I was one of those this weekend, and I'm *super* paranoid about not going to either the F1 page OR, more importantly, the main page - It's that one that catches people out as Murhpys law states you'll hit it in the 5 minutes the spoiler is "available" as the last post..... I also stay away from any sports channels on the TV (the scroll will get you!) and don't even listen to sports radio.....

Oh dear! - I actually watched the end of the IRL race out here on the left coast as it overlapped by about 30 minutes and allowed me to FF thru' the interminable Fox ad's - Fortunately, I guess I switched over just in time as I didn't see that - I would have been pissed having, as you suggested, locked myself in a closet for the morning.....

Having said all that, I concur - "Come back Alex!" - Anyone can make a mistake, and has been noted, you fessed up ASAP - No big deal!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Sheesh -- try getting emails from people reporting the thread whilst hiding from the results. :D

Normally spoiler posters get popped pretty hard, but there was a real good-faith effort by the poster to fix it.

SPOILER threads are a waste of time imo and are only made by those with the outlook of "Oh I have more info than you". I logged onto the F1 forum I moderate Sunday only to findout via the new's header's who had won the race 5hr's before the race aired on that ****pile called FOX. BAN all spoiler threads because they suck imo.
