Great garage
Low approach entrance which has heat coils embedded so we won't have to shovel snow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Matt, Great looking garage! How tall did you make your ceilings in order to fit the lift? Looking to see if I have enough room for a lift in my garage. I've read different thoughts on ceiling heights.
Thanks for all the nice comments! The ceiling is 10-6" I believe. There are several things you can potentially do if you have a low ceiling like having the door "hug" the ceiling, or have the door opener on the side, etc. Matt
10ft ceilings are the minimum they recommend. In my garage I put 12ft ceilings because I wanted a 2 post lift instead of a 4 post like Matt has. You can use a lower ceiling with the 4 post. If you do put a lift in your garage look for the side mounted garage door openers with the extended tracks. This will get anything that is overhead out of the way so you can lift the car up higher and not worry about opening the garage door on your car. Here is a picture of my garage while it was still under construction. I will look at getting some updated pictures now that we are moved in but you can see the extended tracks and no opener above the doors. The ceilings are 12ft and the garage doors are 8ft tall doors. One thing with ceiling height. If your lift has a mechanical lock make sure that the top most position leaves enough room to clear the lock with a car on it and the ceiling. If a limit switch fails and you engage that lock your car will be stuck.
Don't tell us you learned this the hard way, Jim? My lift did something similar. I've got one of those el cheapo China lifts with mechanical locks that require raising the lift 1-1/2 inch before disengaging. First time I tried, at the highest stops, mine wouldn't raise high enough to get the locks back out. Luckily my ceiling is pretty high, and I had some hydraulic oil on hand. Adding a cup of oil to the reservoir was all that was needed to free the poor Dino... Love the footer on your postings, by the way. 10,000+ miles per year on the Dino, 35 years old and approaching 100,000 miles. Still going strong...
There's been a few previous shots posted of my Ferrari room in various stages of completion. But it's finally DONE! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My God Jeffrey!.....that is truely Awesome!! I had a couch just like that in college. It was orange. If that couch could talk.
Jeff, looks really nice! Did you remove the game room? I noticed the Ferrari's are sitting further back than in the previous picture you posted.
Thanks for all the compliments! It's really a great meditation room! LOL! Dean - It's actually a heavy duty vinyl sticker that is made to be walked on, spilled on, etc. If you would like the contact information for the vinyl company that made it for me just send me a PM. I've driven over it and the tire marks just wipe off. And that's exactly what I do! Kuzi - Mine has no stories .... yet .... Colin - Good eye! Yes. The game room has been relocated to another part of the house. This whole section is 100% Ferrari now!
