Wanted to get your thoughts on 911 turbos.

    I just picke up a 1991 (911/964) turbo with 40k miles.

PPI and all checked out great.

Just sold my 360 Spider and wanted something to bomb around in.

PS.......I had a bunck of P-cars before I got into the F-cars but all where non-turbo.

LOL Usually this question is asked before the purchase. It makes no difference what I or any one else thinks, as long as you like it that's all that matters. :) Congrats

And FWIW I'd love to have a 930. It's near the top of my wish list.

    91's came with the 3.3L engines. 3.6L 964 Turbo's are quite rare.

Great car...classic lines, turbo punch and Porsche supercar reliability.

I had a 1991 C2T after selling my '78 930. It was wonderful. The updated back-lit gauges are a great piece alone but the full coil over suspension in all four corners and the nice feeling 5 speed made the car. I really enjoyed playing (bombing) around with it. I finally pulled the engine (3.3) to replace a broken head stud and rebuilt it with all the right goods. Ceramic coated piston tops to reduce heat, aggressive cams timed for performance, upgraded exhaust, added boost (of course), all balanced and lightened internals - then swapped the dual mass clutch for an RSR unit. Made the car a real hoot. Dynoed it at 450 HP at 1.0 bar of boost then took it to the Porsche Parade and won my class with it in the concours.

    Neat machine.

Sold it to get a 993.

Mike to you regret selling it for a 993?
    Was/is the 993 a turbo car?

Hmmm regret... I don't think I did. The turbo car was very good, but the 993 (non-turbo) had so much to offer that I cant recall ever looking back. The 993 handled much better and was a really great total package (nicely balanced between power & handling/braking) - and that is really what I am all about. Actually that is how I ended up in a GT3 currently.

Wonderful cars, but up on boost a turbo car just wont turn.

    Congrats Chas !!!

I sold those at the dealer when they were new, and they were even pretty rare back then. MSRP up here was $148K CAD + 7% tax..............more than a nice house at the time.

They are my favorite used Porsche Turbos because, as nice as the 1994 3.6 litre version is, they are still just too pricey for my taste in today's market.

The 1991 has 315 HP........so if you add 964 cams, a modified hi-flow fuel head and warm up pressure regulator, a K-27 hi-flow hybrid turbo, FVD ignition advance kit, Fabspeed headers, no cats, and a Fabspeed sport muffler, and you'll get 450+ HP. Done it, dyno'd it and can prove it. You don't need a larger intercooler at this HP level as the bigger OEM unit they put on the 1991/92 cars is more than good enough. That is roughly $15K worth of mods..........and you won't believe how the car accelerates in second/third gear. You'll need a g-suit to keep the blood from moving in your body.

Chas, car looks mean as hell! congrats, but won't you miss the 360 that I never saw? The house in the background of the first pic, wasn't that J.D's?

I drove both my 930 Turbo SE 5 speed and my 288 GTO today. Both fantastic cars. I love the 930 Turbo - what a weapon. I also have a 993RS - superior to the Turbo in every way except the grin factor with the right foot!!!!
