If the drivers keep getting younger, they'll have to replace the podium champagne celebration with milk and cookies. Instead of points, you'll get a "gold star" for winning. (Bernie's gold-silver-bronze strikes again. ) Instead of a "drive-through", you'll get a "time out".
you certainly come up with some real goodies! ! ! makes me laugh early in the morning! Found a poll this morning on who Bourdais' replacement should be and Mr. Teenage Punk only got 4.5% of the votes; Bruno Senna was next with 13.97% followed by Loeb with 15.77%, Sato with 18.16% and other with 47.5%. (poll is on crash.net) Guess that shows what folks think of the teenager. . . not nearly as much as he thinks of himself and his pronouncements to the world. Carol
Ok, but has there been any official word OTHER than this kid's pronouncements? Inquiring minds (and doubters) want to know!
Nothing official but given Bourdais' general mood and him hugging some members of his team after his retirement on Sunday, I would be surprised if he WASN'T out....as for the kid being his replacement? I wonder how much is truth and how much is posturing on his part.
This kid -- and he's almost a child -- hasn't even driven a GP yet and he's already passing judgement and pissing on Sebastian Bourdais? Though I know virtually nothing of this Alguersuari guy (and I'm no Bourdais fan), I already want him and Toro Rosso to fail spectacularly. It doesn't matter if Bourdais gave it his all or not, to make such backhanded statements to the press as a driver is being shown the door shows no class, whatsoever. I haven't rooted *against* anyone in F1 but I do now.
You'll be terribly disappointed (and so is Bourdais): Toro Rosso will come out with a new car (a RB clone) for Hungary. I expect improved positions from Buemi. Bourdais was tossed out one race too early for his own benefit. Pitty. I do it all the time. It is the spice of an otherwise dull race/championship.
Sad to see him go, but he was getting consistently beaten by Buemi. I'm not impressed with Alguersari though, the British F3 championship has been **** for several years now, even Piquet won it in 2004. If Jaime had dominated the Euro F3 championship, that'd be different. Hamilton, Vettel, Kubica, Rosberg, Glock, Buemi etc. all came from Euro F3, that series is seriously competitive. Honestly, there aren't many other options, but I would try and get Coulthard in the seat. There's no one else with recent F1 experience with known quality. I really don't expect Jaime to do better than Buemi, and I see this is more of a sideways move at best, for now. If the intention is to get Jaime experience because they're going with him next season anyways, then they better not come out with a better car this year, because then it'll be a waste of possible points.
cant see this Alguersari doing any good this season, hes only 19 :| but Hungary in 7days so we'll soon find out
He passed up doing another season of GP2 with a good team because he was waiting for Brawn. He's since been doing LMES races with Oreca, including the 24 hrs. Him passing up a title shot at GP2 could be the biggest mistake of his career, as eyes are on guys like Grojean and Hulkenberg.
I'll second that! They don't even give Bourdais a chance with an improved car, it seems that he's been driving just a POS. Teenage punk is testing the car in Italy this week. Apparently straight line testing is within the bounds. I agree with Andreas, Bourdais was tossed out one race too early with the supposed significant car improvements. I hope Bourdais will be in the 908 at Petit and possibly Laguna Seca in the fall. Carol
i already dont like this alguesari guy..dude you're my age and have zero experience in an F1 car so shut the **** up.Brendon Hartley should have had more patience.
Who cares how the car is performing. If you've gotten your *** handed to you by two rookie teammates in two seasons, you don't belong in this series.
It certainly looks bad, yes. Everyone knows that the talent level in Indy isn't very high at all. All the talented Americans go to Nascar, and Indy is left with foreign ride buyers who either couldn't get to F1 or were kicked out. There are only really a few drivers in Indy that I would think could do an OK job in F1.
Which begs the question who in NASCAR do you think would cut it in a F1? Personally I don't think they'd be any good at F1 because the cars are so different. For the same reason Villeneuve and Montoya haven't dominated NASCAR.
Yes, the cars are very different. There are several drivers in Nascar who I think would be better than Marco or Danica or Graham (don't rate any of them) if they were brought up in open wheel racing. I think the overall talent of guys like Gordon, Busch, Stewart etc. is greater than that of the ever useless Americans in Indy. making a switch from Nascar to F1 is huge, and the only guy I can really see doing it is Kyle Bush, IF he had a tremendous amount of testing. He's still young enough to make a switch.
Seabass isn't going anywhere with TR anyway, if he's out, it's a blessing. He now has F1 cred no matter where he ends up. As for RicoSuave, time to step up. Good to know he has confidence, Buemi is decent litmus.
+1 One of the more interesting "happenings" right now.... Two rookies, one a kid with a big mouth it seems..... Could be fun Cheers, Ian
