Personally I find black to be by far the most becoming color for the Countach. It captures the car's mystique well, and the Cannonball car is the poster-child for many!

Can anyone tell when the Russo Steele auction, I saw on TV this past weekend, took place.
Yellow lp400 = $485,000. Who's was it and where did it go?

FWIW, I like these shows way better than Barrett.

That show was probably from 2007.

Sounds like the right-hand drive car formerly owned by Adnan Khashoggi.

If so, you saw me along with a few other "usual suspects" from here.

    I was there as well.

That was 2007, the height of the Countach market for a while.

It's funny, I use to look at that car in awe.

Now when I see a picture of it I get a feeling of pride and accomplishment.

    It's a nice feeling.

    Tony

PS: The feeling you get from driving it is not to shabby either ;)

Back on the magazine topic--I remember a Motor Trend feature on the Countach from around 1980-81. If memory serves me right (and this was ages ago), the car was purple. This is the article that began my lust of the LP400S/500S CT.

    Anyone have that one???

Correct, but unfortunately not the correct one (I installed only one), still looking for an original one from the Fiat Argenta -1985

Ok, everybody has his own opinion.

But this combination is far away from originality, simply boring, a catastrophe for a LP400. Timeless? No, in the Seventies nobody had the idea to buy the car in a combination like that. Just my opinion, sorry for my harsh words.

OK--so it may be offensive to an LP400 purist, but red leather on silver paint has been a go-to combo since the 50's on other marques.

I'd gladly put that "catastrophe" in my garage. lol

:) yes I'd like to own that car as well, but I'd change the color combination within the first weeks of ownership.

Originally the car (1120178) was red with white interior and black dashboard, therefore I vote for verde rio / bianco (the "1120012" livery).

Even one (only one) LP400 was made in silver / red (can be seen in the factory brochure in one of the photos). But the silver paint was brighter than for the restored 1120178, and also the red leather was brighter than the restored interior of 1120178. So that silver/red car looked different from 1120178 as it is now.

Silver is a very good colour for the LP400, but I'd prefer a "tabacco" interior.

    +1.

Like #1120022, before the new owner repanted it in, Verde Scuro it think.

#1120022 originally was black and later received "S" modifications. Later silver with "naturale" (not tabacco) interior. Now it is green, but is it an original colour? I don't think so, but I am not sure. With "verde scuro" you mean "verde medio" like it was used for the prototype 1120001 and for 1120008.

Tabacco is a reddish brown (see the factory brochure). #1120030 had/has silver/tabacco livery.

That is not red leather. It is a dull form of dark burgundy, and its no wonder that it was never selected for production in the first place.

That is not silver paint. It is a dark grey metallic, quite unlike true silver which highlights the car's lines. Again, little wonder it was not selected for production in the first place.

Correct, they are often referred to as Verde Scuro, but they are really "Verde Medio"
