The VA is holding it's car show for our Veterans this year on July 18. Registration is at 11am but everyone is welcome come earlier to make sure cars are grouped together by the tents and chairs Chelle and I will set up.

There is no entrance fee and refreshments are free as well.

The addy is 3001 Green Bay Rd.
    North Chicago, IL, 60031

There is a new entrance of the VA that is close to the viewing area and well paved. At the corner of Buckley and Green Bay, head south on Green Bay Road instead of east on Buckley toward the old main gate. In roughly a 1/4 mile there will be a red light with a North Chicago VA sign at the new entrance to the east. Go through the gates at the guard house and the car show is right in that parking area.

You can still enter through the old main gate, but this way is faster and much easier.

Each VA show has been wonderful and our Vets enjoy this event so much! They honestly are "chompin at the bits" for July to roll around. We hope you can come out and refresh the smiles on our Vets who have been here a while and give new ones to the guys and gals who are recent members to our care.

    My thanks and Semper Fidelis,

    Haley

Haley, it's truly amazing what you've accomplished with the VA event and it grows each year. You, and others involved, should get 'Medals of Commendation' for your efforts!

I agree. This is a really great event. Were it not for the GT40's being featured at the Historics at Road America that weekend I would be there for sure.

I can only echo what the others have said, it is a great event run by a great gal. Would you mind posting a list of cars you know will attend?

Thank you all for the compliments! I am lucky in that I get to see and talk with our Vets long after the show is over and see how much they have enjoyed the events. The days I get out of the office, I am asked by so many people when the next one is. It is just a very special thing for me to know that we can help so many people just by sharing a few hours with them.

You guys and gals are the best!

And the GTO-R will be there as well. :)

FOC will hand out a commemorative dash plaque to all participants bringing a Ferrari to the event. The design work was once again courtesy of professional fotographer Tom Voegeli, aka Moebius Entwine. Thanks Tom!

    Line up so far:

    250 GTO-R Haley & Chelle
    348 C Richard
    328 GTS John & Ann
    328 GTS Gerry
    308 GTS Andreas

And I'm guessing the Emperor will not only bring his clothes but also his 308 GTB. :)

You may be guessing right, but I'll probably have Ed's son Mike drive it again.

I am going to try and make it. I have all the parts and tools to put my new steering wheel on. I just need to give her a bath.

    Hi guys and gals,
We're getting ready to head over to set up tents and such for our group. It's going to be nice and cool and the weather is calling for partly cloudy and a slim chance of a "spotty" shower (30%) but they said most places will be rain free. Hopefully it stays 100% dry for us. The radar only shows some showers in NE Indiana. Cars generally start showing up between 10:30 and 11, by noon most are settled in. Last year there was around 200 cars. We're going to try and hold a group of spaces for FChatters.

Important tip to improve your trip in. We no longer enter from the main front entrance. There is a new entrance that goes from green Bay road right into the parking area. Buckley Road (IL 137) is being resurfaced, and is milled down. If you are coming in from anyplace south (or north for that matter) head to Green Bay Rd from the next main road south, (IL 176) and take that to Green Bay road North. This way you're on all nice roads and heading north on Green Bay Rd the entrance will be on the right at the traffic light just north of the Medical school :)
The show does run until the trophies are given out at 3:30 and people start heading out.

I look forward to spending a nice relaxing afternoon with friends and hope to see lots of great cars!!
This has been such a nice event since Haley started it and this year the VA is going to be running things instead of Haley and I and her Family and John, so we get to relax and enjoy it for a change!!
    Seeya there!!

We are binging the canopy and a couple chairs, but if you have fold ups please bring them, Also I am going to bring a cooler and ice for us all to use if you want cold drinks as with Haley not running the donations this time we don't really know what to expect.

Great event again this year. Good to see everyone again. Too bad I lost the top nut holding my antenna in. &#@.>&%@!! Now the search for another one begins. If anyone knows where there is an extra or something to substitute, fire me a PM please.:)

Ditto, great event as usual with some great friends!

"Too bad I lost the top nut holding my antenna in." How the hell did you do that??? I can't picture it in my mind, but if it's just a nut, does it look like something you might be able to find at Ace or True Value. You should have told Ed and he probably could have told you.

I love the shot of the two 328 on the highway. Did Ann hold the camera over the windshield? With some sunshine, that would have been close to perfection.

BTW: You could use just the blurr function to erase the licenseplate. Having 4 horses on the back makes Jerry look like the king of bling. :)
