Preparing for "major" surgery. New tires, Clean rims, most of the dirt washed off. Hopefully, she'll survive my knife. First time I've operated. I've got the shakes. Nurse, wipe the sweat from my brow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I replaced the tires with the same size that was on the car when I purchased it. I never bothered to check if they were the correct OEM size.
There's a tire information sticker in the door jamb, which will show the correct sizes. You DID get Z-rated tires, didn't you? Good luck with the progress, we want to hear that you're out enjoying that thing ASAP!
It is looking more and more like a great find! Do you know anything about how the car got to be sitting for so long in a warehouse? Also, by going under the knife, do you mean CHANGE THE BELTS! And we are still dying to know what you paid for it. That way this can become the mythic story realized.
Tires I purchased are: 215/50 ZR17 and 225/45 ZR17. I'm afraid to look at the information sticker on the door jam. I wouldn't want to find out I screwed up. Wouldn't be the first time, however. Ignorance is bliss! I've purchased a rebuild kit for the water pump (seal and gasket), but I haven't located a thread on actually rebuilding the pump. How do I remove the old seal and bearing? I've removed the water pump impeller, but I'm not sure how to remove the old seal and bearing. Do I just press the impeller shaft out from the back or do I remove the pulley and press it out from the front? Help!
Wait a minute... If you've already got the water pump in your hands, then you must already have the engine out of the car. Pictures, man, we need more pictures!!
my goodness, this is the best thread of the year! we need more info! excited to see how this plays out...
Car looks great after the wash!! Replace those cheese cutter rear tyres with the correct 255's. Looking forward to seeing more pics brother.
+1!!! The only sad part is that I don't believe he is going to divulge what the intial outlay was for the car. A shame, too. I know EVERYBODY is dying to hear....
I'm afraid of going down as the dumbest ****er on the planet if I dare say what I paid. It's better I be thought a fool, rather than pen the truth and remove all doubt.
Subscribed and waiting for the next update. Love it. I bet the car is happy you came along. Thanks for not letting it disappear.
I think at this point, you will be fine. It is looking more and more like a great find. So please let us know what you paid for it. Please! In order for your story to be complete, we must know. If you paid a lot for it, we will just root that much harder for this to turn out well (providing that you change the belts before starting it again!). Also, do you know why this car was sitting in the warehouse for so long? We have to have the full story. This is just too good not to know. So come on everyone, let's give him the support he needs to tell us the rest of the story!
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha you kill me, but this does not get you of the hook. Look we all have done our fair share of silly things that we openly admit to on F-chat, consider this your initiation LMAO. Actually let us be the judge of it... And ditto on knowing more about the history of this car and why she was so neglected.
