Congratulations! Out of curiosity, what was your starting weight, and current? 2 more lbs, and I'll be down 50 I can hardly believe I'm disappointed with the 230's lol. (236 lbs )
I started at right around 300 lbs even. I currently tip the scales at 174. My goal will be in the 160's somewhere though I no longer pay much attention to the scale. Waistline is all that matters now as I gain muscle. Started at a 48, now 32. Goal is 30 inches around. Jacket size wqent from 54 to 41 inches. 50lbs is pretty damned good. Keep it up. Keep it off. Keep going.
Really, between Remix, Cameron, and Jason... and continued pushes to keep at it; it would've been a lot harder to get here. I know I want to update progress... and that is just another part of the motivation to achieve progress. I'll be the first to admit that I'm stubborn to a fault; I've failed several times when I thought I was serious about it. I haven't this time, and I wont It's kinda funny, as just this last weekend, somebody told me "not to lose too much weight" when I stated my current 190 lb goal. Honestly, 190 is definitely not too light for me @ 6'2". I'd like to get back into 34" jeans again... and maybe even my HS 32" size. Just looking at a photo from 20 lb down to that photo I posted at the top of the page is fairly dramatic. Next year is the beach bod LOL. Life commitment indeed.
Actually one can overdue a cardio regimen and 1hr is way to much. What you need to findout is what your peak/fat burning heart rate is, more does not alway's mean better result's as it can actually be detrimental to your result's. I do no more than 20min's of cardio but make sure I reach 'the zone'. I took the weekend off from everything while still eating right and achieved more definition. I dropped from 225lb's to 205lb's in just 2 month's strictly from a nutritional aspect without any exercise, eat more time's throughout the day with nutritious food's and smaller portion's and the result's will be dramatic. Our body is nothing more than an engine in need of 'high octane' fuel not a 50gr's of fat BigMac!!!!!! The main thing is determining your 'body type' and a nutritional program that work's for YOU because every body is different. You may not like or appreciate this advice but you should listen to it! Start reading workout/bodybuilding mag's because they KNOW about nutrition.
This thread is about before and after success and has been drama free for a year. Let's keep it that way. If you'd like to start a thread about your points I'd be glad to discuss them.
The trials and tribulations we go through, just so we can go swim in the ocean eh? I've gotten the same sorts of comments about dropping to much weight. When half the people are overweight and fully 30%+ are now obese I take such intentions with a grain of salt. You're doing great. Looks like you'll be needing a smaller belt soon as well. I'm on the last notch. The last 15 are the hardest and don't let that get you down. I found it easiest to focus on other goals. Such as running pace and how many pull ups, dead lift max I can do etc. The weight comes off.
Another interesting way to look at it is that once you reach your 190 and get the desired bf% you're looking at you can go up in weight once you gain more muscle but not gain waist size. So you win either way.
A little sensitive huh? Thought it was pretty clear that he was simply offering some well intentioned advice! Maybe reread his post again and start fresh?
Perhaps you are correct. Best you user your mod powers to delete my initial reply and let's just keep a good thread going on a positive and upbeat path.
For the first time since I started losing weight, I hit the Go Kart track here K2K. (a real fun place if in MI). A few effects aren't taken into the calculation, as the karts are "fastest" around 40-50 F Old hot-shoe fast lap 30.03 seconds New fast lap 28.996 seconds I am 1.04 seconds quicker being 48 lbs less. That works out to about .0215 seconds faster per lb. less than my starting point. I'm pretty sure I don't have more talent since Feb; particularly since I'm rusty. In theory; I should cusp 28.09 seconds when I reach my 190 lb goal LOL. That said, A good friend of mine is about 15 lb. less than I am right now; and still has a .5 second advantage over me. With my trusty calculation, I need to improve .2-.3 seconds to be close to "perfect" on the track... that will prove maybe harder then losing the fat! That said, I'm now into the top 95.72% of everybody who races at the facility
I am sure it was well intentioned, but it was not entirely correct. You do burn more fat if you do more cardio, just at a lower rate if you are not in the optimal zone. But the total does go up, which is what one wants when they are trying to lose weight. People confuse the slope of the graph wiht the total area under the graph. It's great to be at the perfect slope (in the zone, so to speak)...but the area under the slope (how far you have come or how much total weight you have lost) is what matters, and it keeps increasing as you do more cardio. This holds until you have so little body fat that muscle gain outweighs fat loss, in which case your weight goes up because you are packing on muscle. I don't think anyone here is talking about that boundary case. Anyways, back to the great weight loss stories, and inspirational pics! Evolved...damn man, that's awesome. Do you have lots of loose skin to worry about or is that a myth about people who lose large amounts of weight and drop down a few clothing sizes?
Why yes, I do have that "problem" but I also believe its a myth. Here's why I believe this. 1. Like any organ the skin is going to take a while to adapt to changes. I dropped the weight at a pretty good clip and its going to take some time for the skin to adapt. Maybe years before I would consider something as extreme as surgery. 2. The core muscles when carrying around that much weight are pretty damn big and strong. All the weight training I can do can't compare to carrying around 100lbs of fat all day long. As much as I worked to slow it I've lost muscle mass. Especially in the core area where "surprise" I appear to have that lose skin. Chest back arms and legs where the muscles have grown significantly in the last couple years don't exhibit this. Plus, 170 while within the "healthy" range isn't in the six pack abs "studmuffin" range. Right now I clock in at 16% bodyfat. Trying to get that to 10%. Another 10-15lbs of fat.
Interesting. I wasn't quite as big as you were; but it's something I really don't worry about because the ends are better than the fat that would otherwise fill out the skin. My core is quite strong now, and I'm not sure I agree that carrying around the extra mass meant that my core was "strong." Seeing as I had fairly limited physical abilities; and now there are a lot fewer limits to what my body can do, will do, or still can't do. Carrying the weight has kept my legs relatively strong (just not much endurance), since that is what literally moves you... i can't say I was doing a lot of body motions.
good work, paying off. but you list yourself at 6'4 and 241lbs. not two months ago. i'm just not seeing it. i'm 6'4 1/2 and 195lbs and about your size. even terrell owens lists as 6'3 223lbs, and he looks like two of you, certainly two of me. just wondering, because if you truely do weigh 241lbs, then please dont ever kick me, because you must have some huge legs. not intended as a cut here, just curious. i just know that if i weighed 241lbs, i would be one big son of a gun, but maybe the pictures arent doing you justice? Big bone structure? Maybe the scale is optimistic? I don't know? I don't have massive legs, at all, but I seem to fluctuate between 238-242 (water weight) on the scale at the gym. Definitely not trying to prop myself up with false weight numbers on FerrariChat. EDIT: Sidenote, respectfully, TO is ripped and lean but very little mass. Relatively small chest and arms. Great abs.
Arms are noticibly more solid, its tough to tell, but my abs are actually showing through a little. In a couple days, I suspect I'll see below 230 for the first time since 2004... maybe earlier. 210 situps 105+ pushups (+ is always a tougher type, either Tiger pushups, or deep push ups for a set of 10 above the 105 mark) 130 lb-ish is still my max curl. 4 medium grip pull ups (only with rested muscles) 4 medium grip chin-ups 2 hand-stand push ups I went to a friends place to see where I'm at with the bench press, and did about 5 or 6 reps with 170 lbs... Upon recommendation from a doctor, I started using a basic protein supplement again two weeks ago. Dropped 6 lbs since then I've gone lazy with my running the last 10 days... got to get that into gear again. Pants are down to a slightly snug loose fit 34" from a comfortable 42" 6 months ago. If the prediction is correct, I'll be near my initial goal this coming Feb Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats Isaac! The results are phenomenal. Mad props for hand stand push ups. How in the world do you keep yourself straight? Wall? What is a tiger push-up vs deep push ups? Out of curiousity, what protein are you taking now?
