The subtext of the snarky responses is approximately "when you get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, you should seek to be in a mood of maximum involvment and control over this wonderful machine; to use cruise control means that you want to lower your level of attention to the pleasurable task at hand; shame on you." The latest GTs, i.e. the 612 and perhaps 599 do, I believe, have cruise control. And, I must admit, that commuting 50 miles each way on I-5, it would be helpful to have c.c. because, unless I pay constant attention, I find myself settling in at a pace that feels comfortable, which is usually around 85.

Mine came with cruise control. It is a Bosh system

There is a thread here somewhere I detailed the setup.

The only time when I used it is when I am in a known speed trap area and it is convienent to have auto-self control

I would guess that most of the folks who oppose cruise control, cup holders, and even radios are those who don't really drive their cars all that much. If I only drove my Ferrari 2,000 miles per year, sure I could do without those things. But put on 8K miles+ per year and I bet you'll find yourself on some longer highway drives when during the 5th hour of your trip you'll be wishing for these things.

MOMO makes a unit that can be fitted to the 550. Here is an old thread on it: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145946&highlight=momo+cruise+control

Not sure what it is like in Portland OR but in the UK, with the number of speed cameras we have, you can loose your licence in a single trip, as I did some 7000+ miles last year, it would be nice to keep my licence and do the same each year, thanks Jakermc and Jsuit for your help.

Oregon speed cameras are in urban areas, but not on the interstates, which have unmarked and marked police cars with radar and laser guns. Because of our particular history, there is a strong antipathy in the US with respect to the ubiquitous installation of cameras, such as you have in the UK. (I understand--but I hope I am mistaken-- that people in the UK can even get camera data so as to have evidence and track straying spouses in divorce cases. I don't think George Orwell, a Brit, would have approved).
