Let's be clear, I don't care too much about PETA's practices, and I truly love the taste of beef (rib-eye is my favorite), but I don't see how anyone can watch this and not be disturbed by it.

Watch the video on this link.

Animal trainers do the same things to the baby elephants, by the way.

Years ago I went to a housing development's open house for families and, for the little kids, they had a baby elephant there to pet.
But when no one was looking, the elephant's keeper would wack him with one of those medal rods / bull-hooks.
We complained to the people running the open house but nothing could be done.
I left that day realizing how awful circus animals are treated. Especially when no one is looking.

I wonder since their skin is very thick how do they have to be struck before they actually feel it. You are talking about a very large heavy elephant being hit by a 150 pd man. If a 1 year old hit me with a drumstick Im not sure it would really hurt but for a technicality it would be hitting. I am 100% against animal cruelty but you have to have some sort of discipline for training purposes of any kind. Not sure what people expect on large and wild animals but I dont think whispering sweet nothings in his ear will work....the best way to stop this is to stop patronizing shows that use wild animals.

did you even watch the full video because its obvious at times the elephants are wincing and vocalizing.

yes if a 1 yr old hit a grown man with a drumstick to the leg you probably wouldnt notice it...but you pulled that comparison out your arse. What if a 5 yr old hit you in the face with a drumstick or stuck a fishhook in your arm...oh you would feel it...I know that for a fact.

Hit or abuse an animal in front of me and I'll gladly go to jail or the hospital for my reaction! I have not attended a circus in about 35yr's and quit going to zoo's around the same time frame. I do understand that the preservation of species is necessary ie zoo's yet I find it impossible to fathom that physical abuse is needed, makes me think of that video of the lion recognizing his caretaker's after years of seperation. This subject disturbes me a great deal and is something I will never get over.

Must go hug Mr.Max now who obey's my every word and not because I had to beat him but because he know's I love him and take care of his every need, oh yah I have all the food also LOL!!

Cirque de Soleil - solves the problem. If you haven't seen Quidam, you haven't see
a 'circus' - beautiful in every way, great story, and ZERO ANIMALS.

ps - I HATE traditional circus with domineered animals - and I'm a conservative!!

The more you beat it, the more tender it gets. ;)

I was never a fan of the circus, and I still think it's extremely dull. And whenever I hear of the elephants going crazy, people wonder why. Maybe because they're treating them like ****.

PETA still sucks, but sometimes I do agree with them. I will continue to swat/kill flies that bother me. ;)

Yes I did....Yes I would...Like I said I am against animal abuse 100%...I was simply making a statement I wonder if they could actually feel it...My dog makes noises all the time...that doesnt mean I beat him...

Agree 100% with you on that statement. They have good points such as animal abuse, and then ridiculous ones such as swatting/killing of the flies.
