Just read the latest issue of Motor Trend with a list of Top 60 Coolest Cars. You have got to be kidding! Not one mention of a 3x8 in the issue however, the Miata and other such landmark "cool" cars were listed. The only Fcars were the Enzo, Dino, 250 GT, and Daytona.

I am sick and tired of reading all these Top Whatever lists. They are almost always a steaming pile. Like top Rock band list that would include Green Day but omit The Alman Brothers etc.

Hmm I dunno- Ferrari having 6.66% of the 'coolest cars' from an unbiased (yeah right) media source is probably about right. Consider all the other manufacturers and all their myriad vehicles over the years. I think Ferrari did alright by getting four in.

Now, from the point of view of a F-car enthusiast, I feel Ferrari got screwed and should have almost every model listed. But then, all other brand of cars enthusiasts would feel slighted.

There's just no way to win and have a perfect list that makes everybody happy.

What did you expect from a magazine that didn't get paid from Ferrari to promote their products through the list?

Unfortunately the "cool" of such lists and the "cool" of real life are two completely different things.

The Ferraris listed are certainly ones worth having...

What interests me most is that most people who would read that list probably wouldn't know what the Daytona was.

I'm not surprised to see that list. They're trying to sell a magazine to everyone. In order to do that they need to make sure different types of cars make the list.

No list of "cool" cars will ever please anyone. Have you seen how the crowd on Top Gear boos Clarkson every time he messes with the "cool wall." All of us are on F-chat because we have a common thread in the type of car we enjoy, but even we would no doubt fight endlessly over a list of the coolest cars.

It's not a '60 Coolest Ferraris' list. There are four Ferraris that made the list (and plenty of F-car fans on staff).

And anyone who thinks that MT got paid off to include 40 year-old, out-of-production vehicles probably also has a few UFO conspiracy theories he'd like to spread.

As mentioned by other posters, this is a staff list of personal picks and preferences. Nothing more, nothing less.

How about those 1983-84 VW Rabbit GTIs - I know I've always wanted one! Wonder why aren't there any Chrystler K cars on the list - always one of my top 40?

Top 60 cool cars according to whom? Those who voted for them? The editors? The average American? There's definitely no full disclosure going on here. As for making it for the masses, it gives a bunch of other people "buy-in" as they have owned, or know somebody who owns, one of those vehicles. I know my list would be drastically different.

I especially love when people are arguing based on those lists. "They proved that X was the coolest car of all time." - "Proved?" - "Yeah, they wrote a list in magazine Y and it was on top". It even gets worse when the lists are made from internet polls...

    Hopefully this helps...

I get "what" you said. I don't get "why" you posted (on FerrariChat.com) that you "heard from an inside source" (which has as much validity as, "They say...") 3x8s were in the running for last place, but they chose a VW over the Ferrari for last place. I also don't get why you posted 3 smiley faces after your negative comments about Ferrari 3x8s.

Your first comment was that you "found" the list of numerous cars on some other site. Your last comment was as if you knew about the list all along by having inside knowledge about the list from an inside source. Hey, if you personally don't care for 3x8s, it's no biggie...but just come through the front door. Don't waste our time by making up a silly long list of cars to make your point.

Who are the Alman Brothers Band?

Every die-hard car enthusiast knows at least one of their songs, as it is the opening music of Top Gear, called Jessica.

Btw, have a look at Jeremt Clarkson's best 100 cars....

The Top Gear episode testing the Jaguar E-Type featured a modified E-Type. The tested car had a modified elelctrical system, modified brakes, modified wheels and tires, modified this and that. Top Gear even shot down the original claim of top speed as inaccurate. Personally, the E-Type is a beautiful machine throughout, but definitely has bugs (I know, I owned one).

Andrew- The 308 was an evolution of the Dino 246 GT, so just think of it as your car's mother made it. Kind of nice to see two Ferraris I owned on the list, and no, one was not an Enzo (I wish).
