allthough length and hight dont differ too much with regards to the 430, it seems a lot smaller to me 2004 Ferrari F430 Wheelbase 2600 mm 102.4 in Track front 1669 mm 65.7 in rear 1616 mm 63.6 in Length 4512 mm 177.6 in Width 1923 mm 75.7 in Height 1214 mm 47.8 in Length:wheelbase ratio 1.74 Ground clearance Kerb weight 1450 kg 3197 lb
No, Rob; I am also a 'Lotus person'. And I can't wait for their advanced engineering (a la the new Esprit) to trump this, and possibly Lamborghini, too.
It is a fantastic machine!! Love it and I cant wait to see the colour combos Fchatters start to order their cars in.
Ferrari site is up and running. You just have to get in there during a lull. I just was on there a minute ago =) Thanks Ryan for sharing the sound though!
Just my opinion, but in cases of the 599 and 612 I always felt red wasn't the best color for those designs, but with the 458 Italia, rosso corsa seems like the perfect color for that car and isn't that the way its supposed to be.
I don't know, man. I'm a Lotus guy at heart, too, but Ferrari is getting out of hand. 570 hp? I personally think the speed, handling, and overall experience of this car will be unmatched in that category of sports car. Also, "FUGLY"? How? I can understand if you don't think it is beautiful (I'd disagree), and you may have issues with it, but "FUGLY"? I have had no love lost for Ferrari's design for a long time but this is the departure. This is a rebirth of passionate, interesting, and beautiful design matched with an engine with cosmic power output. I'm so so so happy. This car made my night.
Let me just say this: WANT ONE. WANT ONE NOW! Great name too. It's been used before but it makes perfect sense with a shape like this. Also, I like the "8" -- goes back to the 308 numbering system and stays away from the Ford issue. Did you notice the split wing rear diffusser? The interior defininately is upgraded from the F430. Guys... I think they've done it. You're looking at a winner.
I really like it judging from these pics. I'm not sure if the cavallino on the front bumper works though...
I am SOO in LOVE with this car. Usually, im a little skeptical when i see the first computer renderings of a new Ferrari and then when i see photo of the real car, im starting to like it and then, i see the car IRL and i love it. With this 458 Italia, its instant love, even with those renderings. I cant wait to see this car in the road.
Ditto!!!! This car is b-e-a-uuutiful. Can't wait to see it in Person! The profile shot is just stunning. I can see all kinds of styling cues from past Ferraris, and a lot of the right ones IMHO. One day, I hope to own this car.

A Scuderia version of the 458 would be a great stable-mate for a 599 The more I look at it the more I like it.
I might be the only person to ever say this in this thread, but I'm not impressed with it. The performance numbers are awesome, but I just do not like the styling of it.
Whoever did this sketch on an earlier thread was eerily prescient: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138816141&postcount=2034
the styling is definately subjective...but the performance is not...9k rpm....570 horses....oh my! what's not to like...those that can afford to will be selling their 430's and lining up out the door for the 458.
I wonder where the Soft Top will actually go when it drops. 570hp Engine with a lot less room then the 430 Spider behind the seats. That Spider version looks great but my only question.......Where does the top go?
