The exhaust is functional. The center one is used at low revs and the two outer are closed, then at high revs the opposite happens.

No doubts the competition has been fierce in this segment but I think the global recession has more to do with it, actually come to think of it whenever there is a one Ferrari seems to come out with gorgeous designs :)...just kidding :) but it would be interesting to analyse this indepth.

It would be nice if it were $250K but this is going to be a $300K car. A fully optioned Cali Gt is already in the $240 range. Ferrari will have a $200K car, Cali Gt, a $300K car, 458, and $440K car, 599. Plus the 458 will not come to the US before 4th quarter 2010. 14 months for Ferrari to jack up the price.

So without P4/5 ferrari would not have a mid V8 car after the 430... Sounds very likely...

It looks great, I have a small problem with the front. from the side it looks like a mix of a 360 modena and an enzo which is amazing. I want the Cs/ Scud version in white wo stripe pls.

I want to see what Ferrari does when the California production line is sitting idle, and California's are piling up in dealer's showrooms, while the 458 is sold-out with a 4 year waiting list.

Will they be able to hold the line on limited production. Now that they have built factory capacity to make 10,000 cars a year? And one car looks like a home run, and the other looks like a slow seller.

How do you balance out the production mix? :D

I doubt thats going to happen. The California is for a more conservative Ferrari owner. Conservative as in styling. I don't think they will have any problems selling them. I'm a regular at Shelton Ferrari in Ft Lauderdale, they've seen no complains or slow down in interest of the Ca.

Just caught the new images. WOW!! Definitely nailed the looks. Glad to see a new car, and not just an evolution of the 430.

Another California-hater comment, really? They're selling extremely well with healthy margins at every dealer so I don't think that's a problem. It's either a different buyer, or one that uses it as a daily or more frequent driver.

The bigger issue will be pricing for the 458: If it's really significantly more expensive ($300k+ as some here speculate), then they may have trouble after the "Gottahavits" get their orders filled. The broader market for these toys has shrunk lately and Ferrari will need to maintain consistent volume. My sense is that at around $210-225k, these will move very, very nicely and keep the factory humming.

A likely scenario will be that if you want a 458 Italia, you will most likely be given preference if you take a Cali as well. ;)
