i bought a euro valance from Rennspeed motorsports. they have them on ebay for $485 plus shipping, and i thought that was a great deal, so i went for it. Peter at Rennspeed Motorsports is a real class act, and the part i received is of great quality.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-308-Euro-Front-Spoiler-Lower-Valance-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZQ7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a30QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14Q2el1262QQhashZitem1c0889833cQQitemZ120402314044QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

my car is a euro, sold new to Germany. i wanted to add the deep euro valance, and switch my marker lights in the front at least to the small round style.

the valance install is almost done, i will finish drilling the holes and the fitting work today, and then send the car disassembled to the paint shop.

my amber turn signals came from a Fiat place, and they are the same carrello type lights all the early Ferraris seemed to wear in the 70s and 80s. what i find really odd, is that my car was drilled front and rear for the USA large side marker lights. i cannot find any holes or evidence of patches anywhere on the fenders front or rear of the tires.

the fender holes for the USA lights may have been drilled with a template, that enlarged the smaller holes for the round lights, but i would have thought the stud holes for the round amber light would still be visible. it appears that is not the case, so i am going to just leave the front side markers alone, and not use the round ones. :(

i just finished my cooling hoses, and am working on the heater hoses, which is why i took so much of the front end apart.

i will add more pics as the project continues.

if anybody knows a place that has new lenses for the cibie airport 35 flash to pass lights i would love to know. Daniel Stern has the lights, but i dont want to spend $250 for new lights and lenses, when i only need lenses. i think i may put yellow lenses on if i can find them, since these are not used as fog lights, and are just there for looks here in the USA.

i fixed my ebay account, as i have the blue trans am for sale to make room for a GT4 when the time comes. i will look on ebay for lenses, but i have not been a fan of ebay, so i do so with some trepidation.

    pics:

edit added a "before pic" with the shallow valance.

Looks good to me! I'm curious, when you're doing this much work on a Euro car, why don't you remove the USA side markers? I had a gray market BMW 635 CSi, and it looked so much better after I removed the DOT side markers. Just MO of course! Dennis

the holes i have for the USA side markets are too big to go back to the round euro lights. i would have to have metal welded to the fenders, and i dont want tons of paint work on the car.

it is what it is at this point.

That is exactly what I wanted to do with my Euro...take off the American Federalized rectangle side marker lights, and put those original round Euro markers back on it. Now, I'm disappointed to learn the holes are too big for the Euro lights. Dang!

    Your car looks fantastic btw!

Yes, it does require some paintwork. I was lucky; a lady dinged me in a parking lot. While the rear quarter panel was being repaired, I had the body shop weld up the side marker holes. For the front I had to pay for it myself, but it was worth it to me to clean up the look of the car. I suppose that once it's done we could get in trouble from the government. A risk I was willing to take...

FYI, I had the rear holes for the USA markers filled when I had some bodywork done and they did not need to weld up the hole. The did use some sort of filler material. They did a great job, can't see a thing. So I don't have any rear markers at all. The fronts I was going to do the same as you, but IIRC the Carello lights I had were a push in type w/o mounting bolts. I have since sold those and still have the front USA markers.

I had the US-spec side markers removed but not the small round turn signal repeaters. The ones visible in the photo are incorrect. Superformance now stocks the correct repeaters (flatter and with a metal surround, not black plastic). I will replace these when I get back to working on this car.

Very nice indeed. What about getting rid of them completely? Anyone done that? I'd be curious to see what the front side markers look like on a 328, I'll check the Blumel book as well. If it can be done to blend nicely and not be noticeable with none on the sides, why not? Going back to the US markers would be simple to do.

Looks fantastic. Side markers are fine, don't worry about them.

I look at that kind of stuff with a changed attitude since my 330 2+2 was totaled 2+ years ago. For a street driver, I'm actually glad to have the US-spec bumpers, etc., on my 308.

Looks great! The deep spoiler really makes the difference. Like the grill too ;)

Too bad about the side markers. Another project for another day. I kicked myself for not doing it when I had the chance.

    i wish, (smartypants .... ) :)

for those of who who do not get the joke, the "fog lights" are euro " flash to pass " only lights, and only work if you pull the stalk back.

i have been looking EVERYWHERE for yellow or regular clear lenses to replace mine.

Daniel Stern only sells the lights as assemblies, not the lenses.

if anyone has any.... let me know!

    thecarreaper,

That is beautiful job on your Euro front end and EXACTLY the look I love, with the deep dish and the "get the hell out of the way lights",
great job! I also love the color of your car!

Do you have updated link for the parts for the conversion?

    Again, awesome job!

I got rid of mine also.

You absolutely, positively have to have them welded in. You cannot use filler. Well, you can but that is a hack fix IMO.

It is very easy to do but will require painting the quarters as you have to sand down to the metal to weld the patches in.
