Given the circumstances, this is great news. Exactly what Kimi needs too. No more rally BS or excuses about the failed car. Beat the retiree decisively AND consistently or...Hasta la vista, baby! I honestly hate to see this season-saving event -to me at any rate- to occur at Massa's expense though. I cannot wait to see if Kimi will rise to the occasion but I certainly hope and believe so. I will remain a fan regardless but it is time for Kimi to stand and deliver in his mainstay.

Furthermore, I cannot wait for Häkä's commentary after these two have had a chance to race each other.

Part of me thinks that Schumi has really big balls for doing this (although I suspect that the $$$$$$$ involved are even bigger) but the other part says that it is a pretty safe bet. No matter what happens, Schumi will remain the greatest ever in F1.

It's a gamble, to be sure. It would be almost impossible to tarnish his legacy, but the expectations that he is facing going into this Grand Prix will be unreasonably high (of course, he could surprise me :D)

Lol yeah I vaguely remember there were some casual discussions going on about that topic :D Well, then you can only hope that Schumi will only do one race, I heard the ice cream in Spa is expensive ;) :D

I wonder if his decission is right and that he'll not regret it afterwards...

I mean just look at the facts:
    - he is 40 yrs. old, though his condition is quite good
    - he has been out of F1 for 2,5 yrs.
    - he doesn't know the car
    - Ferrari has a rather bad season, similar to 2005
    - there are no test-sessions allowed till the next GP

I'm a bit worried that he might "destroy" his name/image if those 7 races will be bad...

    PS:
My only hope is that he will be able to show the "kids" some proper race-driving due to the fact that there are no driving aids anymore...

No. Zero. Only straight line testing allowed, but I guess that's something Schumacher doesn't really need.

WOW!!! FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON!!! (Unfortunately, Massa will not recover in time for this year). Now maybe he will stop trying to injure himself on a bike.

We now get our Schummy/Kimi matchup, slicks, a resurging F60, Brawn/Red Bull who? - the media and fans will go crazy! I guess Bernie won't mind too much either.....

I'm just speechless............after I let out a "YES!" at work that made everyone look ;)

+1 Ian, I didn't believe it either. I really wonder what his motivation is. A boatload of money? Bored at home? Wanting to prove that he can still do it? A combination of all three?

He has nothing to prove. Look at Lance in the TdF - podium after 4 years off. Monza will look like Mont Ventoux!

What a boost for F1! The man loves to drive. Leave him alone....;)

I think it was probably always gnawing at him but it took an extreme situation for him to say yes. It'll be interesting to see how he does? If RB can win a couple then Schumi will certainly have the mental drive to do it too. Who woulda thunk?

If was Michael, on the first day that he drives to the race track with a rental car, I would find Hambones car and T bone it. Then walk up to Hambone and ask him if he paid for the extra insurance. At that point I would tell him "this is how your day will end, I've done it before, I have nothing to lose." :D
