Not a bad attempt at all. I think metallic shows more reflections and a gradient from dark to light. I saw a PS job once which made the car look like it was chromed. Maybe you could lay that over the colour? I'm a complete noob when it comes to PS so don't know if I'm talking any sence here.

I think it looks great in loads of colors. Particularly keen on the black roof / colored body combo.

Question/request - can someone post up some side by side comparisons of the 458 vs 430? Would be great to see how they compare...

You're right, this is about as far as Photoshop allows me to go, to create it more metallic (or a chromed one) forces you to hand paint/modify the base image a lot, which of course takes a lot of time. Also hand painting light reflections is very hard to do when you don't know the light sources (as in this studio render from Ferrari), it will take a lots of hours and might not even create a good result at all :)

Just to be sure: you both mean like the Challenge race cars right or a CStradale version?

I like the blacked out center light section. That looks really aggressive!

Jim, that's awesome. Makes my F430 (same config) look ... old I guess. Oh well ... it's sold anyway and seeing your impressions makes me want a 458 Italia so bad.

Thanks :) Now I'm interested how your F430 looks, got a pic?

Just between all the requests I thought about this: what if the customer decides to paint the front grill in the same color :)

    I think it looks good

I think removing the prancing horse would look good too - seems potentially unecessary.

Yes that is more like the gold. There was a one off customized 599 done by Pininfarina in gold. (Pics in the 612/599 section here) That 599 by comparison is an even darker shade than 'clear gold'. Amazing results you have achieved here!

Can you cut out the center portion between the two rear vents, to make it just one to make a "challenge" style grill?

    +1 ....... that would be cool :)!!!

I would change a few details in the design to take away some of the prissiness ............ those LEDs out front look a bit too 'blingy' (like rhinestones)...... the wheels could use slightly heavier spokes ....... but the overall form is good looking and well proportioned :)!

It is somewhat similar to a concept I have been working on for the past few years ............. but my design looks a lot more aggressive ..........

I agree on both counts. The body-color grille elements look great, and since the Cavallino isn't inside an egg-crate grille, it looks a bit superfluous underneath the tricolor Cavallino shield. Fred

I'm absolutely loving all the PS'.

How about adding the dark side to the 458 by applying Marrone Eklipsis aka brown met. from the 6.0?

Other than the 6.0, the 458 seems to be the only other car that will work with it.

Can you do some wheel swaps. California wheels, F430, and CS wheels, I don't like the stock ones much.

It's true that the wheels are a bit bland, and not original to this car. Perhaps Ferrari didn't want to induce sensory overload among Ferraristi trying to absorb this entirely new design direction. Fred
