I feel stupid having to ask this, but I really, really need an address for C&C to plug into google maps to figure out where this thing is exactly. Does anyone know the full name of the dealership it is at, or the address? I looked around on the official C&C forum (not on fchat) and didn't see an address. Just a bunch of locals saying "it's at the Ford/Mazda dealership" LOL.

I haven't been to the Marconi Museum in Tustin but heard it is worth seeing. Check out the link. Your family might enjoy visiting the mission at San Juan Capistrano. Short drive from there to Dana Point and a nice park on the ocean. Let me know if LA is still a possibility. Beautiful drives and several car museums to consider.

Ohhhhh, now your PM makes sense. I'll give you a call if we end up going. My mom isn't feeling well, so we will likely delay the family portion of this to another time. It's a shame on both accounts.

I wondered why I hadn't seen you around though!

Hey Dude, we've got a Tommy's in Lake Forest now in the little strip mall at the SE corner of El Toro and the 5 behind that gas station. Hey, and there's an In-n-Out on the SW corner. Don't tell me OC doesn't have some outstandng eateries. And, they're both about 10 minutes from Cars 'n Coffee! We've got it all down here . . . mostly.

LA proper, there is Petersen Automotive Museum(one of the Best) on Wilshire or JB Nethercutt Museum (Merle Norman Cosmetics) Old classics some Ferraris.), Sylmar,CA (The San Fernando Valley) arrange ahead of time.. limited viewings. Griffith Park and Observatory(Also a separate Zoo (But it ain't the San Diego Zoo but still a nice little zoo along with The Gene Autry Western Museum which is next door but the park is quite large.. Los Angeles has other big museums ....google them Natural History(La Brea Tar Pits) Modern Museum of Contemporary Art.(MOCA) Getty Museum (2 of them, 1 is huge between SF Valley and Westwood in the Sepulveda Pass, the smaller one is in Pacific Palisdaes (Santa Monica area)

Pacific Coast Highway (for flavor-remembering its 400-800 miles long and each 50-100 miles has a different flavor)) drive north from Venice,CA to Malibu,Ca .....go (stop)to ZUMA beach (Zuma is the north end of the LA stretch of beaches that is 12-35 miles long. Some of the finest white (yellow) sand beach anywhere in the world (its not Hawaii but its still pretty fine and if you don't get your feet wet .... don't come what's the point!) or farther north to Somis,Ca turn around come back (by freeway) back to Riverside by Rt 101-210(late start) unless you go all the way to Santa Barbara for the day which is easily done (early start-1 1/2 hours north of LA, 2-1/2 from Riverside). Historical early Mission style architecture which California is famous for) . Driving back thru Ojai,Ca. (small winery style town) if there is light.

PCH going south towards San Diego is always a winner slow drive thru several beach communities from Palos Verde.Redondo, Manhattan, Huntington and Newport Beaches, La Jolla etc. to see where the money is and the Ferraris. This an all day drive unless you bolt on the freeway to get to SD then only a few hours.
As mentioned by others avoid the freeways going into LA area during morning rush hour(M-F 6-9 -3hours) and leaving LA area during rush hour( 3-4 hours,4-7PM). Riverside has its own rush hour gridlock. Google all first then Google map. Riverside has a decent County Museum also.

North of Santa Barbara (another 45 mins.) is Solvang, the Danish community (fairly touristy but very different) and architecture with windmill buildings. They have a terrific Motorcycle Museum Classics old to new, cruisers,English, cafe and race bikes...not commercial stuff but unique on a side street(Google). The drive from Santa Barbara thru San Marco Pass and the Lake Casitas area to Solvang is quite scenic then south back thru the Santa Ynez Valley where Reagan and Michael Jackson had ranches and Ojai.Ca.always go early get your scenic drives in, supper wherever, then hammer back in the dark on the freeways 'cuz there ain't nothing to see in the dark.

A quick trip up Rt 2 (Angeles Crest Highway to nowhere but for Mt. Wilson Observatory but what goes up must come back down) above the 210 and Pasadena and San Marino can give incredible views if it isn't a foggy (smoggy) day or night lots of lights at night . Pasadena is good day trip or at night old school(original old money). Huntington Library Museum (railroad money)one of the finest in the world and a huge desert cactus garden one of many exteriors there including Japanese Garden(a day trip in itself). Pasadena Old Town entertainment etc, somewhat toney or chic different than the usual local crap(all off the 210 which starts/ends near Riverside). Lots of Good in LA but its so big that the crap can overwhelm. Come from the east east Rt 10 or 210.there's always China town and Japan town has great food. Both in downtown proper also there is Phillippe's sandwhich shop just south of Chinatown and "The Pantry" 8th and Figueroa for outrageous old diner style too much food scenarios, very historical great if you're in the neighborhood of the Convention Center (Downtown).

Rt.101 get off in Hollywood then go south a few streets to Sunset blvd. Drive to the ocean thru Beverly Hills and Santa Monica to the pier. The Santa Monica 3rd Street promenade is a local pedestrian only street area with all kinds of kitsch a couple of blocks from the pier @ 3rd street.

Friday night's at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank,Ca a Car Club (hot rods and muscle cars and trucks) gathering same neighborhood as Universal Studios and Conan which is now on the Universal Studios lot. Universal Studios Park during the day, then Conan tapes at 4:00PM something like that, then to Bob's just prior to dusk for an Hour or 2 then back to Universal's City Walk (free except for parking),restaurants, movie theatre, shopping. A whole day in the same neighborhood but 4 entirely different venues.

Take a drive to Palm Springs for the day and take the Tram to top of the mountain (beats the heat) but drive in the "back way" Rt. 153 ,158? from Hemet (very near Riverside) to Palm Springs. A "beat the heat" drive. This drive is little known but very scenic, somewhat mountainous and very Alpine like with small lakes and meadows to view along the way. Palm Springs has a great Naval Air Museum with World War 2 planes and a really informative Pearl Harbor model and film and histories. Go early no traffic. Take the freeway back to Riverside there's an Indian gambling casino (Morongo Casino) and a Name Brand discount mall along the way (boring but popular) and windmills up the wazoo.

There's lots more but this is where I take neophytes and it always works for me. If you're a biker type then "The Rock Store" on Mulholland Highway, Cold Canyon and Stunt Roads ("Top 'o' the World" -30 mile views in both directions inland over several mountains and ocean to Catalina views from above Malibu. From there you can get into Topanga Canyon. The bikers run Stunt road all day very twisty and also Decker Canyon and Malibu Canyon and Kanan Dume and Mulholland Highway which you will recognize from Televison production and Commercials and there are several tunnels also. On weekends will get you a couple hundred motorcycles at a roadside coffee shop and variety shop with every imaginable motorcycle mayhem especially on Sunday otherwise stay inside and avoid the heat. The beach is typically foggy til early / sometimes late afternoon then clears ....inland its always HOT in the Summer....nights are always pleasant.

I'd give you a tour of a Motion Picture / Television Studio but I'm on hiatus and between jobs at the moment. Do the overview, the microcosm is still middle America.

    enjoy
