Can someone tell me where is the port thru which I can see the timing marks on the flywheel ?

I cannot figure out from the WSM where the port to view the timing marks is....

    IT's a 1982 308 GTSI.

    thanks

Right below the oil filter. Little flat plate, two nuts hold it on.

What he said, the top of the bellhousing...would be another way to say it...there is a trapezoid cover plate on it....two bolts.

There is also a gasket under that plate.

More than likely, that gasket is going to turn into 5 to 6 little gasket pieces upon removal.

Just go to the hardware store and buy some 1/8" thick, or 3/32" thick black or red rubber gasket sheet and cut a new gasket using the cover as a template. I suppose you could use cork also, but I don't care for cork all that much.

Little quick fun fact / discovery that has helped me:
You can see the timing mark on the rear bank intake cam thru the oil fill hole. You still use the flywheel marks, but this is helpful for knowing if you're TDC on the power stroke or exhaust stroke.

Help out the clueless some more, here - if you -do- see the marks in the oil filler hole, does that indicate power stroke or exhaust stroke??

Little line on cam visible = TDC, power stroke.

The search function works great. Went right to the cover on my Mondial 3.2, 87. There is a sensor immediately above the cover that will not allow the cover to be removed, sensor goes in right below oil filter. Does anyone know if oil will drain out if I remove this?
