Thanks for the info Carol. I will look at Brussels flights... do you think you will make it? It looks like Steve and Florian and myself so far are going, it would be a lot of fun to get together for dinner one night, especially if you're going stag
Just bought my ticket to Monza. Shumi at the Italian GP will be the best of the best. His last race in Europe..... Oh my.
You obviously haven't heard - SCHUMI is coming back! And you'd have us believe there is anything with a higher priority? Surely you jest! I was supposed to be going to St. Petersburg (not the one in Florida) with my GF at the end of August, I was supposed to be looking into flights. I hemmed and hawed about how work is so busy... except I just bought Spa tix So now I've got a LOT of explaining to do... but.... come on... MS! He trumps all!
All those flying in, suggest you also look at flights to Charleroi (Ryanair) or Liege as both are closer to Spa. For lodging, you can google 'bed and breakfast Belgium' and see what you get. Last time I was there, I stayed for 2 days in B&B, about 20 minutes drive from the circuit. If driving in from UK, Germany,... make sure you leave on time. Traffic can be a nightmare and police cameras abound for catching 'after the race Schumi wannabees'. Enjoy it ! Frank, Brussels
I'm in together with a mate, tickets (Bronze) are ordered. We're driving to Aachen on Saturday, according to my friend the old town is a must-see (don't know, never been there), stay the night in a hostel there, and drive to Spa (50km Autobahn) early on Sunday morning. We considered staying in Bonn or Köln (...Cologne...) too, but Aachen is closest to the track, and still far away enough for room prices not going crazy... http://maps.google.de/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=aachen&daddr=francorchamps&hl=de&mra=ls&sll=50.63422,6.183929&sspn=0.305734,0.891953&ie=UTF8&ll=50.659038,6.193542&spn=0.611146,1.783905&z=10
Frank, thanks a lot! Can you say when on Sunday morning the traffic gets bad? It would be nice if we were able to arrive at the track before that time
Florian I'm really getting wound up now I'am having a nightmare, trouble is I can go at the drop of a hat, but thats me being selfish but I'm working on it.
Come on Steve, this is YOUR chance to impress the hell out of every gearhead you'll ever meet - "Yeah you know, I divorced my wife so I could see Schumi at Spa...."
Damn, i wish i could go to watch one of the european races but its been a really hard couple of years for me financially. Steve, if you really cant get out of the music thing let me have your tickets and ill keep a photo diary of the day, it would be like you were there You would be better watching it on the TV anyway, you get a better idea of what is going on
LOL well thanks for that Rob.. Thing is I have been dithering all year about going!! at 1st I was in credit crunch frame of mind but I'm ok ish so now I have made my mind up as with this added great incentive of watching MS v the rest it's like I'm up against all the odds stopping me arghhhh ..I have not given up as yet. Trouble is as time goes on the Germans will nick all the bloody sun beds..eh Florian..
Has Spa got a cap on the number of ticket sales, I know they reduced the numbers at some tracks this year...?
Well Desi looks like you do have some "splainin" to do I'm looking in to Monza at this point and there is a hotel in Milan I know the wife loves. Downside is that her shopping will cost me more than the rest of the trip!
Given that they normally start testing on Sunday at 10.00 AM and there will be some other races before the actual F-1, suggest trying to get there by 9.00. Cheers, Frank
You know what they say - easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission Nothing some flowers and a few nights out with the wife won't fix, eh?
