http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5461147,00.html Michael Schumacher's pending return to F1 is set to cost Ferrari a pretty penny with reports claiming he'll be earning a staggering £3million a race. Ferrari announced on Wednesday that seven-time World Champion Schumacher had agreed to fill Felipe Massa's race-seat while the Brazilian recuperates from his Hungarian accident. The German's return, though, is dependent on him getting through a 'specific training programme at the end of which confirmation will be given of his participation in the Championship.' And should he get the go-ahead to race in the European GP at Valencia, the Mirror claims he'll be earning '£3million a race - effectively £1m a day in Spain.' It pays to be the best!
It is that good old team spirit thing again. Also shows that WW was full of it as usual but oddly enough Ferrari keeps buying into it. Good for him.
Any other confirmation on that? The media has been in such a frenzy that hardly anyone even noticed the hearing date on the Renault suspension. So far, I've heard that Felipe will (a) stay in Hungary or leave Hungary for (b) Paris, (c) Monaco, (d) Brazil, (e) Valencia. It's gettin' crazy out there.
Why would they leak his pay per race? Whatever, it's all business and F and Bernie are going to make a shlt load off of this especially if it goes well.
Ecclestone should be covering some of that coin. Ticket sales are going through the roof and ratings are going to go way up. After all the Mosley fiascos and drama of late, this is exactly what F1 needs.
This is a non-story. This story in the Daily Mail completely contradicts it. They are both probably made up:
WOW both stories seem pretty convincing but news papers alway lie so i'm going with... doing it for free story.
My guess is that's a combination of both. "Hey Michael, you have that 5 Million per year contract with us, now it's time to earn that money!"
I agree....he looked like a jackass regarding this whole thing (or a politician...which is pretty much the same thing.) It's good to see that Schumi makes his own decisions!
I'm saying that Ferrari pays him a boatload of money for driving around in their cars and adding a bit of advice here and there and now reminded him that he needs to work a bit more for a while to keep his salary
I agree. I seem to recall reading somewhere (this was a month or two ago) that his contract hadn't yet been renewed for next year.
Considering that they broke the MJ story and the John Edwards story, I'm gonna have to go with them on this one!
