Felipe says he doesn't want Michael to sit in his car (not an exact quote). Have the doctors given an estimated time of return for him yet? Has anyone heard anything about his return?

If this is at all true then I say "chill out" to Massa. This is history in the making so just sit back, relax, get better and get ready to watch the show. :)

Not sure I buy this unless it's just intended to mean he wishes he were able to drive. If true- I'm sure he'd be less pleased with Alonso or Senna getting the ride.

No joke....MS @ Monza and Spa would be epic. I'm also inclined to think that this is just Massa showing how fierce a competitor he is. I would have been shocked if his reaction was anything other than "get me in the driver's seat yesterday!"

He was both joking and indicating his drive to return.
    His exact words were-
Massa reportedly joked: "We have to see if I will let him drive!"

"He was joking with his friends and his brother," Altmann revealed. "He was telling us that he heard about the Schumacher news, and he told us: 'Let's see if I let him drive the car, because I won't give up.'"

How could Massa conceivably be so disrespectful and rude? Shame on him!

A basal skull fractures can take several months to heal properly. The base of the skull is actually what holds the brain in place, and improperly healed fractures can cause the individual to have all sorts of symptoms including visual disturbance, seizures, and the risk of an infection of the meninges (which lines the brain if there is a leak). So I do not believe Felipe's doctors will allow him to drive unless he is completely healed, especially as the normal g forces in an F1 car can aggravate the injury - even produce tearing of the meninges, if they are vulnerable. Note, this is very different from being up and about and going about daily life which can happen as early as a few weeks after the injury. A re-occurrence has serious medical implications.

Having said all that, I for one want Massa back asap. He is a phenomenal competitor and has been more than 100% dedicated to the brand. I pray he gets better soon and wish him and his family all the very best.

I thought Michael and Felipe were close and it was partly Felipe's wish for Michael to take his seat.

Bottom line is that the remainder of this season is basically a throwaway season for Ferrari, since they are really not in the running for the title. I can appreciate Massa's desire to drive, however his number 1 priority need to be his long term health, and he wouldn't be giving up much to take the time he needs to heal and let Schumi have some fun for whatever amount of time it ends up being. It's not like Schumi is going to replace him permanently. Massa should focus on being there for his family, and maybe target to be ready for the beginning of next season.

So ... he should tell his helmet maker, "See you next spring."? (Erk.)

And Felipe thought losing the mill with three laps to the checkered was a "kick in the head". :p
(I've been holding in those jokes for almost a week, waiting to be sure Massa would recover.)
(Quite aside from the jokes about "knock out" qualifying.)

This is going to be tough on Felipe. The car is starting to get competitive, and now he's sidelined.

If Schumi does well in the car, how much credit will go to "the legend", and how much to the car improvements done over the first half of the season?
(We can be pretty sure Kimi isn't doing much car development.)

The doctors will have to be holding Massa back until it's safe. He'll feel up to it long before it's safe to return.
(I read up on basal fractures. It's astounding how well Felipe is doing, but it'll be a while before he should be riding a rocket ship.)
(Actually, a modern F1 car pulls *more* Gs than the Space Shuttle.)

But I don't think Hungary is going to be on Massa's "favorite tracks" list. :D

    Haha....good one!

Whether or not Kimi has actually contributed to the development of the car doesn't matter. His results compared to Schumi are what will tell the story. However, you would expect Kimi to be faster than Schumi just based on the fact that he has been driving the car all year long. If he doesn't, it will look very bad for Kimi, or very good for Schumi............take your pick.

It would just look very bad for Kimi. Like career over bad.

Both. It would look bad for Kimi and it would elevate Schumacher's stature beyond the known galaxy.

Ive always said the Kimi sucks but many didnt want to believe me. He not only has a drinking problem but a cocain problem. He is a partier and always has been. Hes been in one of the 2 top cars for years and basicaly done Zilch other than the giftet WDC in a year full of turmoil. He will not be at Ferrari next season. He is not and never was half the driver Mike was. Button also is a midfield driver.....He only did good when the car was flying...where is he now? Not even the best drivers can put the 3rd or 4th best cars on the grid onto the poll or even win a few races in a season in such a car. But Mike could and did. His skills are far superior to anyone including todays grid. Hamilton is the best driver out there this season followed by Alonso when Alonso feels the need otherwise he couldnt give a crap. Both Hamilton and Alonso want to be in the top cars or they tend to park them in the garage. JV was the same way. Mike always liked a challenge and would take the crappiest car and make it finish 3 or 4 spots higher on the grid. Everyone has always known that starting from poll gives you the best chance of winning. Well Mike has more wins than poll positions...Senna was the opposite. There has never been a perfect or flawless driver in F1 but one can easily conclude that Mike was the closest yet. You know that he will work the F60 for everything its got while still preserving the tires and engine. Not many could do this. Kimi throws in the most fastest laps in a race for years now but at the expense of the tires and engine. Thats called bad race managment.15 wins in 147 starts is pathetic considering the cars he has been given.

What Massa said was a joke, when someone told that Schummi is going to replace him at Valencia he said in portuguese "Isso se eu não correr..."
Somethink like "Oh this will happen if I don't race there"

There's no doubt Kimi likes to party, but what is your source for claiming he has a coke problem? That's a pretty serious accusation.

Massa is flying home, today. He needs to chill and recoup. Be lucky if his eye has cleared enough for parallax to become meaningful fully in just the long run.....very nasty hit.

MS, well, he's a top guy and probably could shoe in on a pinch, but he hasn't raced this for much time..it is a temporary filling

......Massa will retain his seat, provided a healthy recovery.....concentrate on health and his new child.

I think that Massa and MS had a good working relationship. IIRC when Schumacher retired one of the things he intimated was that he thought Massa deserved the drive (if he hadn't retired after '06 Massa would have been replaced with Kimi)

If Massa is able to travel in a few weeks he sould be there to cheer both of them on. Even if he doesn't drive for Ferrari again it would only bolster the team and his standing in the paddock as supporting the overall picture and not just his own selfish interests.

IMO, the "many" you speak of include most of the entire racing community around the world and/or anyone who has the slightest idea about racing...

and you're correct, they still don't believe you. :D

But at least you believe you Franco...and that's all that matters. :)

You certainly never saw (there are pics on the net) some after race parties that involved Michael.

And you seem to have a strange over-anger problem with the finn, you should get that cheked out by a profesional....
