    My Mondi 3.2 is reading one half the real revs on the tach. Where is the lead from the coil(s)? The problem was intermittent until lately. Now it is constant. Seventy MPH does not equal 1500 revs. HELP!!!

    I just fixed my own.....it is fairly simple job to pull the tach from the dash and open the case up. I had read that the problem is usually due to dirty contacts on the needle so once apart, I manually rotated the the needle from stop to stop several times and then used canned air to blow off the contact path. Once back in the car, the unit worked as new.

    A word of caution, the inner workings are very delicate. The tach needle spring is basically a watch spring on fragile bearings and can be easily damaged so when handling the needle I made sure motions were slow and gentle. Likewise with the air...short bursts at far less than full force and none directed at the spring. Not a particulary difficult dissassembly and reassembly but best advised to pay close attention to how things came apart. So the job may not be for the faint of heart or fumble of fingers... ;)

    With the help of the exploded diagram and a skinny home made tool, I finally figured it out. The cover snaps on to reveal the mounting hardware. Thank you for your help. Whit

    I have been called a real f@rt smeller if that counts ;) .....chalk it up to adventurous spirt, extreme curiosity and the unquenchable desire to try and fix before forking out the cash.
