Well,To make all the records you put there before this, all we now you can not be a "carity sister" or is impossible to make. You have got to be like a wolf at tracks to do that,if not, your success never will be a record,or remembered like that. I think Schummi was not the "cleanest" driver,or the "most respectable with rest of drivers" at tracks, becuase if you want to be the best, the Nº1,you have to be like a hunt dog,and Schumi was like a hunt dog at tracks(and some said:a little puppy outside tracks). The problem now is this reputation`s respect known from and by the rest of drivers to the "Kaiser" finish at 2006. Alonso lost this "respect" one time there, and all the rest of the guys at the grid,,,,all of them,,,want to do the same with the "Kaiser" now. I can imagine what is thinking Hamilton,Button, etc, etc, etc about Schumi come back. So this next one gp specially is going to be the most interesting race from the 2007 Brasilian GP with the Mclaren drivers duel, and the final result of the season with Kimi like Champion, was a very interesting race to view, and review,,,,,well,,,,Valencia is going to be more interesting than that, and this means a lot. All the best for Schumi there.
It won't be that if he returns and fails to score any points that people will regard him as the worst F1 driver or anything like that. He has 7 world championships, nothing left to prove and is just temporarily replacing a hospitalized friend & team mate.
Thats the problem with people like yourself. You think only of being #1 in everyones elses eyes. He sees things differently. I dont think he gives a flying f--- about what eveyone thinks. He just loves the thrill of racing in anything. While talking to M. Conti yesterday( one of his former F1 techs) he thinks that Mike could very well take more points than anyone the rest of the season. If fact, if Mike is allowed to come back, in many peoples eyes the season starts in 3 weeks. Bring it on baby!
I say bring Villeneuve in for a few races..the Tifosi world wide would appreciate it ! He wants to come back & I bet he'll do alot better than his last comeback with Briatore
He;s doing it for the team, not for himself. He's just returning a favour to the team. I don't see how this move will make him go down. If he pulls off 1-2 wins, imagine what he will be remembered as, including his 7 WDCs.
Its going to be exciting to see Numero Uno back behind the wheel. Will it be the first time former World Champions have started 1 and 2 for Ferrari in a Grand Prix?
If memory serves, Villeneuve won his first race in F1, having never raced on whatever track that was. Said he put in many sessions with a simulator game of some sort. So, don't count MS out... Also, in view of Schumi's exit debacle, with Montezemolo and all of that, it would have been really fascinating to have been the 'fly on the wall' when Monty & Schumi met to discuss 'The Return'...
Good trivia question. I'm pretty sure that it is the first time for Ferrari. As for other teams, the only other pairing that comes to my mind is that of Jim Clark and Graham Hill at Lotus in '67. Any others?
Didn't see this one over here yet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifKQoW3Cuzk&feature=related 5+ minutes of onboard glory. MJ on the 31st of july 2009, F2007, Mugello. He's still got it that's for sure!
+1 That video is showing him using grooved tires yet the big stink is that MS tested the F2007 with slicks.
All this sounds like good news to all Schumacher fans. The real question is Does Ferrari and Schumacher have what it takes to win? Its has been a tough season for Ferrari. The cars are performing below average. Yes its good to see schumacher in a Formula car since 2006. Lets be real what is Schumacher really capable of ? Lets wait and see if Schumacher can out drive Lewis Hamilton,Jenson Button, Alonso. The next few races will detemine if Ferrari has done their home work well... Hope to see Schumacher in a car and hopefully on the Podium Finish... Glad Massa is well and going home to recover... All the best for Ferrari..... john
MS will only be one cog. there's a whole team that needs to support him. there's a chance the car will be slow, a pit stop will be ruined, a bad tactical call...lots of things that are out of his control. the most likely one is that the car will just be slow. it's not what i'm hoping for though.
Two weeks ago we had a driver near death. Today we have Massa on the road to recovery and MS back in the car. Positve thinking has a lot to do with it.
Less than nine days ago, actually. (Unless you're thinking of Kimi's rallying efforts. ) Felipe is starting home today. (A couple of days in a Sao Paulo hospital for observation then home.) http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article6737248.ece Ferrari is planning to release Massa's first interview since the accident, today. (The quotes yesterday came from his brother, not directly from Massa.) I'm mostly hoping Schumi can straighten out some of the pit lane blunders. (Although I suspect Ross would be better at that.)
There's never been two world champions driving for Ferrari at the same time. There has been occasions when they've had one world champion and the teammate has gone on to later win the WC (ie, Prost and Mansall, Hawthorn and P.Hill, Fangio and Hawthorn), but never two former WC's (or a former and a present WC) at Ferrari at the same time. Even throwing Andretti into the loop doesn't change the stats...unless you count his driving in '71 occasionally alongside Ickx, and Ickx winning the WSC world chanpionship in the 1980's...but IMO, that's really testing the premise!
