Ya know, it was a legitimate request. Just because a bunch of y'all don't get the mindset doesn't mean that it's tar and feather time.

I have a brother who's into that lifestyle, and yes, he won't buy any car with a leather interior. In his mind it's as offensive as upholstering with human skin. I disagree, but that doesn't make him any wronger or righter than I am -- just different.

 

Just because you're getting nailed for whatever reason doesn't mean there's not perfectly good information being provided in the thread that is on topic.

Have you ever asked him about it running on long dead animal juice? I tend to find that really shuts them up. Even the electric ones, unless you have a wind or solar or Nuke plant near you, they are ultimately being run on dead animal juice too.

But I do agree, his question was not as stupid as his reaction to the responses were.

I've been a vegetarian for 25 years, lean to the conservative side, and have owned two Ferraris, both with leather interiors.

But, if I wanted to spend five grand to get my 308 re-uholstered in cloth, I guess I could.

 

I can understand being a veggi. It is vegan, and lets call it "ultra-vegan-reactionary" that really gets me. Try being a vegan in Afgan or Ethiopia, see how far that goes. What bugs me is that many of the UVR's dont seem to understand that it is our military and technological might that even allows them to be UVRs.

Unless you are at the top of the economic food chain, there are not vegan or really vegetarian's in 3rd and many 2nd world countries by choice.

Hear you on the reactionaries...plenty of them around, don't care for their over the top attitude either.

With both heart disease and colon cancer in my immediate ancestry, being a vegetarian makes sense. There are ethical considerations, as well, yet I'm live and let live on that, have some friends who are hardcore vegans, others live on steaks and burgers and give me a hard time.

Personally, I have no prob driving cars with leather seats, nor buying leather shoes and belts.

 

My point: If the guy is a vegan, and wants to reupholster his Ferrari in cloth, what's the problem?
