Hey Mack, where are you located (I for get if you posted it orgininally)? If you need some help I am sure people here would love to give you a hand with this car. It is totally out of the ordinary for a person to jump into Ferrari ownership and figure out how to get one of these machines up to snuff with the correct parts and mechanical ability that you are showing us! This car is going to be great once you are finished sorting it all out.
Hang in there, we are all rooting for ya!!!
    :)

Looks like they (the tires) are pointed forward, to me...they should have rotational arrows on them.

The wheels are actually rotational too, that's a previous comment.

    PAP348 will know.....

    I'm a Common308Owner...but I have some 348 driving friends!

DIRECTIONALLY specific...they are supposed to go "forward"!!! LOL!

I hope he comes back soon, I can't match his humor or his paragraph structure!

Probably waiting on parts, my guess, he needs that nipple for sure...we all need a nipple now and then, it's subconscious.......;)

Ole is a farmer in Minnesota. He is in need of a new milk cow and hears about a nice one for sale over in Nordakota (that would be North Dakota for you non-Scandahoovians out there).
He drives to Nordakota, finds the farm and looks at the cow. He reaches under to see if the cow gives milk. When he grabs a teat and pulls....the cow farts. Surprised, Ole looks at the farmer who's selling the cow, then reaches under to try again.
He grabs another teat, pulls, and the cow farts again. Milk does come out however, so after some discussion with the cow's current owner, Ole decides to buy the cow.
When he gets back to Minnesota , he calls over his neighbor, Sven, and says, 'Hey, Sven, come and look at dis ere new cow I yust bought. Pull her teat, and see vat happens.'
Sven reaches under, pulls the teat...the cow farts.
Sven looks at Ole and says, You bought dis here cow over in Nordakota, didn't yah?'
Ole is very surprised since he hadn't told Sven about his trip.
Ole replies, 'Yah, dats right. But how did yah know?'
Sven says, 'My wife is from Nordakota.'

Maybe that's where the thief; err, 'former owner' crashed it whilst evading 'authoritative' types, and due to a hasty exit, left it in said condition.

Were there any bullet holes or dried/crusty blood spray (or other 'biologicals', as they say on CSI) in the vicinity?

My timing belt cover is cracked. Can I replace the entire plastic belt cover (6 pieces total) with an aluminum one from a 355? It sure would be nice to replace the brittle plastic with aluminum.

Early 348s had the metal timing belt covers. I replaced the brittle black plastic timing covers on my 348 spider with the metal covers from an early 348 TS that was being parted out.

Why the heck do they need a cover?

Surely no stone or rock, etc. will ever get there?. Don't they have a flat floor cover also?

That was a great story but very anti climactic. Too bad we never learned what happened to the car or what he paid for it. ;)

I know of an owner who had their cam belt punched by a stone finding its way into the cam belt covers, on a 355. This is no story, I got this info from the person it happened to, not long after the belts were fitted, the engine had to come out to have new belts fitted, owner described symptom as a ticking sound and flat acceleration. Cam belt covers are very necessary.

Im sure I also read a story of a 308 that had this happen to it not long after a belt service. :):)

I think the rock got in there and chewed up the cam belt. Valves bent etc..etc. Could be wrong though, my memory is fading with time. :):)
