Thats my approximation, and I think its a little less than that, but to be fair, clearly the weight does not stand in the way of its incredible performance!

Out of curiosity (and because it was sitting next to my computer) I checked what Road and Track had in terms of the Veyron's Curb weight...

    4470!

Making me think the 4500 estimate is nearly spot on...

IIRC the engine of the Veyron alone weighs somewhere around 1,000 pounds. Add the 7-speed DSG tranny, the AWD system, the 10 radiators, all the drivetrain components built to withstand almost 1000 ft-lbs of torque, and an ultra-luxurious interior with all the latest electronic comforts, and things start to add up....

    4500!

Wow that surprises me, I knew it would be a little heavy but that is just amazing that something that weighs so much can move so fast.

I'm not doubting the performance of the car due to it's weight...I have a lot of respect for what was accomplished with the Veyron, i just think its pretty funny to see such a large weight figure for a car that does 0-60 in 2.5 or so seconds.

    great thread !

GTO is light, the F40 should not be so much heavier (the euro car!)

looking for next cars....i really hope you will have the chance to weight some old lamborghinis to (a P400 miura or LP400 should be light enough imo)

    Hey Bill,

This has been a fascinating thread. Can't wait for today's results. What's that under the cover in the last pic?

Good idea... assuming I could read the weight before the scales get crushed.

    1. PLEASE can some Euro F40 owner take their car to a race shop with a set of scales and get it weighed.

    2. Is that right that the Veyron is a 2 ton car and they only find room for a 25gall tank?

    3. Bill, Are you planning to get the 60-130 times done for the remaining cars?

    4. Jim, What about the P4/5?

    5. Why not extend the table to include actual power to weight ratios, which should include the weight of a driver (180lbs?) and say 3 galls of fuel? As you know the driver weight has a proportionally bigger impact on the power to weight of the lighter cars.

    6. Just to bring us all down to earth:

    ENZO 472 bhp/tonne (fuel empty), 443 bhp/tonne (driver + 3 galls)

    SUZUKI GSXR1000 800 bhp/tonne (fuel empty), 561 bhp/tonne (rider + 1 gall)

This is a great thread, I've been waiting for the numbers on the F50.

    Thanks Bill!

Bill, this is great information. I'm personally very impressed that the US version 430 Scuderia is as light and as powerful as the Ferrari F50.

    Thanks for this effort.

    1. I may be able to weigh a euro F40. If you do, it needs to be completely filled with gas.
    2. That's right. The Owner's Manual has 25 gallons and the gauge shows that as well. BTW, one tire for the Veyron costs $11,000!!!
    3. Not unless someone provides me with that data using GPS or provides a car to me to measure. But I do know the F40 and F50 60-130 times are in the high 9-second region based on magazine tests and my own personal experience with these cars.
    4. I can weigh Jim's car if he brings it to CA!
5,6: In my opinion, the real-life 60-130 times are more meaningful because they accommodate engine power curves, gearing, aerodynamics, shift times, drivetrain loss, etc. Weight is less of a factor because of the starting speed.

You're very welcome. I really enjoyed this project.

I believe the F50 and Scuderia accelerate about the same. 60-130 for both cars is likely around 9.5 seconds, maybe a little higher for the Scuderia. The Scuderia is likely faster on most tracks because of the modern drivetrain/suspension/tire system and much faster shifting.
