http://www.ferrari.com/English/News/Pages/090804_F1_Indiscretion.aspx Seems Ferrari is pissed Williams blocked Schumi from testing : Maranello, 4th August 2009 - Guess who opposed the test with the F60? A team that hasn't won anything for years and yet didn't pass over the opportunity to demonstrate once more a lack of spirit of fair play. Just for the record, the Scuderia Ferrari had given its approval to let Alguersuari test, but it seems even in this instance someone decided to stick to the precise wording of the regulations. Williams is on the way out of F1. So long good bye. Just take a look at Frank Williams, he looks like the walking dead.
Maybe Williams is a motherf***er, but this statement from Ferrari lacks any kind of savoir faire. Not a good move by our guys. And it´s not the first one, I remember a few dirty press releases during the last FIA-FOTA war. Maybe some new faces are needed in the PR department.
Perhaps, but I can appreciate the brutal honesty - Massa lying in a coma with a hole in his head as Williams picks-nits with the rules probably negates the need for 'savoir faire'. Sometimes you just gotta call a spade a spade.
I'm amazed Ferrari would put a statement like that on their official site. I can see some lower-level donk doing it, but to be approved by Luca and the PR department? I'm stunned! I actually agree with the sentiment, but there are some things you just don't say. Besides, I believe Red Bull also blocked it, no? Frank Williams has chosen his side in the FIA/FOM/FOTA battle. He has sided with the FIA and FOM. It was a chicken#h#t move for him to block letting MS test, but they all pull CS moves on each other all the time. It's not *that* big of a deal... it is surprising that Ferrari would react this way, however. It just shows that the decision pissed them off - in essence, they handed the moral victory to Williams, and that was a bad move.
Hey Mike.....Italians speak their mind when they are pissed. Talked to someone in the know the other day and he said it is possible for Mike to win the majority of the remaining races.
Williams Team has no morals whatsoever, they hire 2nd rate drivers and run a second rate team. Even after getting the DDD on their car from the outset, Ferrari still out performs them. As some of you say its nitpicking which WF1 are good at, personally i wouldnt have wasted my time drafting a statement to such a also ran team. revenge can be sweet
Afraid I have to agree with Andrew on this one. I always thought Frank Williams was a jerk because of the total lack of respect he showed for his drivers. He wanted all the glory for himself, and if his car won, it was because of his car, not the driver. Taz Terry Phillips
Well look at those who have won for Williams. Villeneuve, D Hill, Jones, Rosberg, Mansell. Other than Williams, where were these guys successful? Prost and Piquet came to Williams as former champs and won in the best car. That is their job. Not too many drivers win the title in inferior cars. But, several lesser drivers have won titles in the best car.
you guys are talking about williams like they are force india. frank williams has been in f1 for a very long time and knows what he's doing. i think their protesting of schumacher's seat time is petty, and frankly unsporting given the circumstances surrounding the whole situation, but what can you do they have the right to do so. I just hope MS is still the king of all gods behind the wheel and can throw the whole f1 world on its head with a few dominating races. This is the chance to silence anyone alive who doubts his greatness.
Tasted good to me. One could also say that he dosnt have a leg to stand on but in this case the rules are on his side. He is still an ***** though.
What is the context of that screen grab? That doesn't look like any kind of public statement to me......maybe from the Chat section? Most of the official quotes would be attributed, not anonymous, IMO....
What's all the excitement? Anyone that thinks what Ferrari posted was tasteless has never read anything tasteless (which means you don't read this forum very often). Williams was probably lashing back at Ferrari because they haven't been let back in FOTA yet. FOTA is undoubtedly going to let them back in, but only after they have paid penance, and the price just went up. Far more interesting is that Red Bull broke with FOTA on this, who was supposed to have supported Ferrari. Red Bull has something to gain, since they are trying to catch Brawn and if Michael can win or finish higher than Red Bull he take points away from them. However, I really can't see why Red Bull did this since it only took one team to accomplish it, and this could sow the seeds of dissention in FOTA.
