can someone tell me how it is possible to successfully "turn back" a modern odometer? I mean short of replacing it, isn't it near impossible to do? then you have all those pesky records. and all to turn back an odo 10k. doesn't seem to make sense or even be possible.

 

wow, just read their website. Some people will do anything for money. Seems they are side stepping the law by not re-installing the Odo themselves. They just tamper with it and give it back to the "client".

 

So are you saying that Ferrari of Long Island knowing sold a car that had the mileage rolled back ?????

 

Apparently it can be done easily on a 360 according to a dealer guy I spoke with a while back. So I'm assuming on pretty much anything else too. He cautioned that when buying everything else really needs to jive with the mileage i.e. seat wear, interior condition, tire condition, extent of road rash, respray etc.

If these guy's are pulling the odo and rolling them back and then "handing" it back then they have customer records. Enough complaints and the authorities will get a hold of their records and coming knocking. As the OP said watch out.

What about the CPU and OBD info? Unless they are reflashing the onboard computer on a modern car they are just pizzzin in the wind

Yes I own Exotics Rally, CAT Express, and yes I own www.odometerpro.com All companies are solely owned by me. I do NOT work for Champion Motor Group, I am NOT on their payroll. I do NOT sell cars except my own when I am tired of them.

The odometer business is completely legal. It is NOT against the law to adjust the reading on an odometer. Every single odometer that has ever been adjusted by my company has signed and notarized authorization on file. It is the responsibility of the owner of that vehicle to disclose any repairs or calibration that has been performed. I cannot control the actions of the end user. There are many different reasons for this service, some of them being, theft, accidents, electrical shorts, oversized or undersized wheels/tires.

As far as the allegations, they are COMPLETELY FALSE. Furthermore, I have NEVER and will NEVER perform any work for a dealership. I do NOT work any longer in the same building as Champion Motor Group, there was a time when I did and I moved out about 2 months ago. I have never even stepped foot in or spoken to anyone at Ferrari of Long Island, that is false. I removed my phone number from my website this morning due to annoying phone calls - since "F1 Storm" which is an alias and is hiding decided to post this on about 4 or 5 websites.

Couple thought off the top of my clue-less-mind here, pls CLUE ME IN, in regards to the odometer biz:

* what OTHER reason would there be for turning back an odometer than to deceive someone on the reading?

* IF this guy ain't breaking 'any laws', then I'd like to know what percentage of his clocked odometers have the mileage turned FORWARD...a new odometer would require the mileage to be turned forward, but here we're talking about used stuff...
