This picture looks nothing like the launch pictures. It seems the front looks so much longer, I am getting worried.

Over-reaction. The car will look stunning. The wheels are 20" and will need SOME room to let the dampers do their work. Relax.

It's the photograph that makes the car look sort of unattractive. Wait till we see the car with any cameo and photographed right....

Pleased with the overall car, but I just don't like those biga$$ mirrors! They look like they were taken off of a Corvette. Prefer something
smaller like the CS or better shape like the F430.

The theatre aisle rope-lighting (nice description, by the way) is precisely what I didn't like. To my eyes, the real picture makes the lights look even longer as they drag all the way up to the top of the fender.

My comment about the rear haunches was based on this observation: If you line up side views of the 308, 328, 348, 355, 360, and 430, and drop a line from the back of the rear window, straight down, you can see that the rear wheels have been steadily marching backwards. On the earliest of those models, the front of the rear tire is intersected by the line straight down from the back of the window. Now there is a large gap between the tire and that line.

Ultimately, while this car does look more compact than the 430/360, I think it fails to achieve the petite look of the 308, 328, and 355. That "smallness" is what I really like about those cars.

I'm sure there is a good reason for the trend I just described: perhaps its just to accommodate a larger displacement engine, maybe the engineering improvements demand that of the styling, or maybe it is actually more stylish to the eyes of those who design the cars...I don't know. To me, though, it's just not something I like.

The worst example of this is the Audi R8, which as you can see, if it gets bad enough has to be remedied with a big off-color band-aid in the middle of the car to keep it from looking awkward.

I don't get the negative reaction after the almost universal praise last week  It's exactly the same design of car (albeit in black) but with a bit of white film applied to try and disguise the shape. The pic is just taken from a slightly higher angle and the front lift is raised. Designers must have rhino hide for skin as this is a tough crowd to please :D

Yeah, I should temper my last comment by saying I still think it is the best looking Ferrari in a good long while. I just decided to harp on the few criticisms I do have.

Remember that the lines of the car are less visible due to the dark color. On top of that it's covered in tape and the suspension is raised. I think this is the 458 at it's most vulnerable. If the picture showed a shiny, undisguised, red 458 leaving the factory gates this thread would have gone in a whole other direction.

This one is missing the Cavallino on the front bumper. The mirrors are the only thing letting it down IMO, otherwise it looks pretty good. I hope some interior shots surface soon...

Did someone observe that the wings in the front spoiler differ from the ones from official picture? In the real like photo are mounted higher and more curved.

I agree - this pic shows a pre-prod car with a different (and less interesting) front end to the official pics car.

Part of the negativity is because we are seeing the car for the first time in a real setting.

I don't think there is any lift for the front switched on, look at the spoiler you can't go much lower its all ready low with little ground clearance. Somehow they have made some suttle changes in this car and it lost its magic of the release photos. It looks very similar to a 430 now vs before it looked very different in the release pics. Its not exotic looking as it was.

Maybe this car is not the final version in this pic. Will wait and see when it comes out.

Definitely does not look as exotic as I was hoping. Will have to wait to see as more pictures start to become available.

I think the car looked amazing in the initial pics, and still looks amazing. A little extra ride height can be easily fixed.

Let's all just wait until Frankfurt next month when the real car is out for the public to see, possibly in several different colors. I'm sure it'll be stunning in person.

This car looks fantastic. I like this real-life picture even more because it is from a little higher angle, which IMO causes the winglets in the air intakes in the front bumper to look more three dimensional; eliminating the flat, black front nose feel you get from the lower camera angle in the front profile of the official pictures.

Having said that, I would not get this car in black. Usually, when the design is iffy (ahem..Cali..), I like it better in black (or darker colors) because it hides some of the contours. In this case, the design is correct, and some brighter, metallic colors are in order.

I would order this car in Blu Mirebeau with a beige interior.
