Nothing at all alike....beginning with the Evora's cantilever roof.

I think it looks like a Model T.

LOOK!!! Both have 4 wheels! Look at the airflow over the rear fenders... just like the 458!

    Darn you Ferrari!

    LOL...precisely!

Evora looks great; but c'mon...it's a great design but not as deftly penned as the 458. As it should be. The 458 looks like a Ferrari should look...oozing with passion and instant recognition while looking new and fresh. The Evora looks sort of like a Lotus should look; the cantilever roof/pillars/windows definitely evoke a different feel than the Ferrari. I could never get the two mixed up.

Agree they look nothing alike if this was posed as a serious thought by the OP.

I think it is funny to discuss the 458 in such excruciating, critical detail when it the "official" image is nothing more than a "cartoon", —a mere photoshop illustration of the real car.
Anyway, I like the design, and I can imagine it will even be better in the "flesh".

I see what's he saying, but I only see a passing resemblance of the two character lines at the top and bottom of the door.

    Not all that close.

Other than the fact they are both low slung sports cars and have certain design requirements common amongst 99% of all low slung sports cars..

this professional designer says no..they dont look anything alike.

Sorry, guys, but I think there's a little bit of "whistling past the graveyard" here. While beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and aesthetic differences are greater or lesser depending in part on one's passion about the subject matter (e.g. differences in batters' stances), there are significant similarities: Low wide oval black intake grill area and wide front spoiler, headlights cut deep into the fender/hood line, pinched waist and large rear haunches ending in a single round taillight, roof creases and many other similar styling elements. The Ferrari design is certainly prettier, but to this guy's eye, at least, it's no model T comparison.

Both the 458 and the Evora are brand new mid engined sports cars designed to comply with the latest crash and pedestrian impact regulations which are dictating the shape of modern cars more and more . As a result there is likely to be some passing resemblence but no they do not look alike. My 2p the 458 looks more like the Artega GT than the Evora especially in the glass area but again only a passing resemblance.

There's also a bit of the Alfa 8C Competizione in the Artega GT. Everyone appears to be using the same ink well! Fred

side shot is the 458s best angle IMO

front 3Q shot looks a little like the lotus but the ferrari, at least from the published pics, looks absolutely stunning where as the lotus not so much

thats interesting....I had never seen the Artega before.

it looks like someone was privy to early 458 design sketches...I have a hard time believing all those similarities came about coincidentally.

Actually, Daytonafan, the photos you posted suggest a resemblance. If both were the same color, it might even be stronger.

What's interesting is that Lotus used the logical evolution of the 246-308-328-360-F430 air intake, and Pininfarina kept the haunches clean. Also, the 458 lacks the trademark Ferrari quad-tail lights.
