I know, this is subjective- there's several ways to look at this.

    My list:

    1. 1973 312B3 (so bad, in any itineration you choose, that it almost effectively killed Ferrari's F1 efforts)
    2. 1955-6 555 Squallo (never won anything; luckily, Lancia handed the D50 over...)
    3. 1996 F310 (took Schumacher to make it win; a notable step backward from the 1995 412?)

Your thoughts? Just curious as to how your list would match up with mine.

The Ferrari was in sad shape from 91 to 96. It was bad on the track and on the street with the 348 and Testa. :) If Mike had not come to Ferrari in 96....who knows were we would now be.

How about the 1980 312T5? It makes the F60 look like a world beater, hardly any points scored and defending champion Jody Scheckter even failed to qualify for a race.

You guys already mentioned some of the worst:
    - 1973 B3
    - 1980 T5
    - 1994 - 1996
    - 2009 F60

    Some other bad ones:

    - I believe 1952/53 when it wasn't even a F1 (not Ferrari's fault, but the regulations), but a F2
    - D50 in the fifties, because it wasn't even a Ferrari (but a Lancia)

Don't forget the 1969 version of the original 312 F1. After Amon had built up a big lead at Montjuich only for the car to fail (the third time in 12 months that had happened to him), its best finish all year was a 3rd at Zandvoort, and the team only scored 7 points all year. (Fortunately for them, BRM was just as bad!)

The engine allegedly developed 435 HP, but no one believed that, and late in the year, after Amon had left in disgust, the engine was replaced by the 1968-spec version, which at least was reliable. The one 1969 312 currently running in vintage racing in the U.S. is in precisely this configuration.

The situation was similar to 1980; the team was developing an entirely new car and engine and didn't have the resources to also keep developing the older car.

Partly the fault of bridgestone though...Schumacher regularly took it to the podium but only once to the top step (which was nothing more than an extended Demo though)

Indeed. Never failed to amaze me to go from dominating the last 5 seasons, including CRUSHING the rest of the opposition to make them feel like they're not even worthy of licking mere insects excrement...to not being able to win a single race (indianapolis didn't count).

Mostly fault of Bridgestone imho. The 2005 tire rules were specifically created to break Ferrari's winning streak, and with the tires, they obviously found the weak point.

I don't think that was the rules so much as the tire competition taken to it's irrational extreme.

The Michelins were so light that they were downright dangerous. Remember how many flat or shredded tires they had that season?

You might say that it was the result of having the *wrong* tire rules: nothing in the rules about minimum wear capability.

I'm usually on the "vehemently oppose" side of "spec" proposals. But after reviewing some footage of the 2005 season, I had to agree that the spec brickstones were better than letting things go as they were.

You are probably referring to the year Alain got sacked and you have a point. The previous year he almost clinched the title with the Ferrari, so that one can't have been so bad.

Yep, the 1980 312 T5 was a turkey- sadly the '81 156 was no better! Remember their trying the Comprex system early in the '81 season...also running a doublewide rear wing at Long Beach?

The '69 312 was indeed lacking in results- according to Amon, the HP found on the dyno never made it to the track due to oil scavinging problems. I do give it cred for sounding great, though!

Gotta disagree with the 52-53 car, though. No fault of Ferrari's that F1 was run to F2 regs- also, Ferrari won all but one grand prix in 52-53!

We have the winner, the T5 takes this contest by a country mile in my opinion.

While it was a turd in 1980, lets not forget that the car itself was the WDC winning car from the previous year.

The car wasn't bad per se, it was "just" outdated a year later. That's the rapid progress of F1: One year WDC, the next the joke of the pitlane.

In that sense it fared a lot better than some of the other nominees in this thread, which were always unsuccessful. Point in case the F60.

...or the 1973 312B3. So bad that Ickx left midseason, as I recall.

My revised list, just my opinion: ;-)

    1. 1973 312 B3
    2. 1981 156
    3. 1992 F92

Everyone here, though, have made valid and solid comments!

Prost HATED that car. And didn't have much love for the team management either, apparently.

F2005...the car that lost us our Championships. We can blame the Bridgestones for not lasting a whole race on a single set,but in the end it was the F2005 that failed us.

2 cars come to mind, the T5 and the F92.

T5 was not competitive because aeros mandated a V engine format and the flat 12 ruined all ground effect possibilities.

1981 C did win 2 races including the famous "balls and hp" 1981 Spanish GP. Possibly my most favorite win by Gilles. Car did handle like **** though and blew up regularly.

1992 the car was a complete horror show-worst car by Ferrari in the last 25 years.

You are right on about all of it except the double rear wing....That was 1982 on the 126c2 loophole in the regs & Forgheri thought he could pull a fast one.

Comprex system was run mostly in practice and they kept it for a whole year, also started using water injection to cool the explosion do there would be less knock and ping...
