Looking for a F50

its not what one will give to buy one of only 2 black F50s in the US. but what the seller is willing to take!
when i bought my F50, a low mile perfect example, one of the black ones was available, ibelieve in the long island area.
that car was offer at 1.2million. i chuckled.
but if you can get me one for 25, 40k more, same <3k miles....go get me that car, ill give you mine and thow 40 on no problem.
no how no way you get the same f50 in authentic black for only 25, 40 more than red.
well, atleast thats my opinion base don having been an actual principal in the transaction that actually transpired.

Although fairly rare, they do come up, sometimes in the trade and unadvertised.

Based on Joe's info that there are indeed only two US black ones......IF (when) I have the money to buy an F50 for myself, it will be black, and I will happily pay $100k+ extra for a black one. Joe, call me in 10 years please.

unfortunately switch, i'd have to front run you there. i'd probably end up bidding just a bit more. i think if there are infact 2, no way the differential is only 40k.

Hopefully both black ones become available in 10 years and we don't have to have a bidding war. Or you can just buy one now and I'll buy it off you later.

 

Isn't one of the 2 Black US F50's a high-mileage car? Think I remember seeing one of them listed as selling for just over 500k+ several years ago at auction with something like 25,000+ miles at a time when low-mileage F50's were getting 650k+

 

Last year about this time I had a "done deal" on a Euro F50 with 7,500 miles on it. Private principle to principle transaction. I looked at all available cars at the time and could only find US cars (like Sport Car Company car) for around $950K range. The seller and I negotiated the price to $735K. The seller happened to pay $550K just a year before! He bought it well, but it still shows you how crazy the market was moving there for a while. I got cold feet and decided not to go with it. Today I think this car is a $600K car. What does every one think? Did I duck a bullet or?

BTW a 1000 mile US car has to be a $800K to $900K car. So few F50s with ultra low miles these days. Also didn't the F50 come with like 20+ original items from the factory that most cars no longer come with?

You ducked bullet on the Eu car, but from more than just a market trends perspective. You are a USA resident, and you would have owned a Eu car in the USA, which means you would always have a car that's worth less. The fact of the matter is that within the USA market, a limited-series USA-spec car will always be worth significantly more, in the short, medium, and long term.

I agree that nowadays, few F50s have very low miles, and that coupled with their rarity means the numbers you state for a low-mile USA car may be reality.

Yes USA F50s came with a few items! From the big 'circus box' hardtop facilitation, to luggage, factory literature etc. Some even came with JP Tods shoes, a watch, certificate of origin, factory production picture album etc etc, but before we get carried away I can guarantee that nowadays many cars just remain with the basics (hardtop in box, luggage, books etc).

Great Ferrari Supercar, absolutely revered amongst the faithful that covet them, they speak to state-of-the-art F1 technology from the era in which they were conceived.

i would only considering it ducking a bullet because of the 7500 miles and the euro component. then you have to consider its condition, its servicing, whether its had the fuel cell replaced (a 15 to 25k servicing)....
i would not consider it a 600k car because while you're taking the overall downturn in the market and translating that to this particular car, that then assumes the owner would be a seller at that price. there are only so many of the 50s in the country, and it only gets sold if a seller lets it fly.

with some of these cars, an f50 with 1000miles, there are always going to be certain buyers who will drop an extra 100 to 150k for the best best examples, if not a lot more. that seller isnt looking for the bell curve but that unique exceptional buyer.

Agreed 100%. I had no issue with the car being a Euro car. From pure economics stand point, I just did not want to spend almost $1MM for a (at the time) US car that is basically the same car. I knew about the Euro car's fuel bladder issue and took that in consideration before arriving at the negotiated number. Didn't the F50 also come with a bottle of Champagne and 8+ keys?

No. There was some conjecture that US market cars came with a bottle of Port (?); but I have never, ever seen it substantiated.

All cars came with JP Todt driving shoes BTW.

Very, very few cars still have all the gear that they were delivered with. I have seen quite a few F50's and they really don't stand up well to neglect. They require constant TLC to keep them nice.

I suspect it would be extremely difficult to find a low mileage car with all the goodies that is also in good condition with full and comprehensive service history. These cars also cost a fortune to recommission after standing around for years.

Note that the eighth digit in the VIN is a "B" indicating a non-US car and they did not even disclose that.
Shame on them.

 

no accidents, all documents, USA CAR (and yes, it does matter if you have to resale,as USA cars not only differ, they are more rare)
