SEC football is all that makes the end of summer and the approach of winter (up here) bearable. Can't wait.

Hey I don't have any animosity, as for "better" that's a pretty bold statement considering Colt's resume. I was simply stating that the possiblity of South Carolina taking it to LSU was not a pipe dream considering the beating they took from Ole Miss and the loss to Arkansas last season.

IMO Snead made the right decision to leave Texas, there was no way he was going to see any considerable playing time after the way Colt performed in his freshman season. You're welcome for the quarterback :)

I think the SEC should just do intra-conference play, and have their championship declared the national champion. Go out on top!

"Meyer to make $4 million a year after agreeing to extension at Florida": http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/sec/2009-08-03-florida-meyer-extension_N.htm

snippet: "Florida football coach Urban Meyer has agreed to a deal that will make him the first $4 million a year coach in the Southeastern Conference — if only for a few moments...Alabama's Nick Saban and LSU's Les Miles both have deals that were to pay just under $4 million this year. Saban, who signed an 8-year, $32-million deal when he was hired but is in the middle of talks about a new deal that would extend the life of the pact and the dollars. Currently, he's scheduled to start making $4 million 2010.
LSU's Les Miles, who had a clause in his contract to get a one-time bonus for winning the national title in 2007, makes $3.75 million this season..."

Yeah, that's what I'm saying! Go out while the conference is on the top, and declare the conference eternal champions...
Obviously, 4 years ago there was a better conference. Prior to the past three years the conference had the national champ about 20% of the time normally? So now is the time to seize the day, and remove the possibility of another conference claiming any championships. I'm sure there could be some formal declaration by the commissioner or something to make it legit.
    Make it happen.

Ah, the good old days in the Big Easy....
Fun time in that conference. It was like playing against a bunch of JV squads.
Now that we have all the competition just where we want them, thinking that we are weak, like Ukraine.
    GO CANES!

Really like that # 9 there , and the footnote. But I think that asterisk really belongs by either Ole Miss or Bama

Edit: looked again and saw the new number one, call me and I will see if I can get you into a rehab program. In the meantime try to remember "JUST SAY NO"

    Glad you approve! :D

Saw this in the BR Business Report: "The college football season doesn’t kick off until later this month, but that hasn’t prevented ESPN.com from predicting bowl matchups. Writers Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman are in agreement that LSU will play Illinois in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1. If the prediction comes to pass, it would be the Tigers’ first appearance in the Tampa, Fla., game since a 23-10 loss to Syracuse in what was then called the Hall of Fame Bowl in 1989.
Schlabach and Feldman agree that Florida and Texas will meet in the BCS championship game on Jan. 8 in Pasadena, Calif. In other postseason picks involving SEC teams, Schlabach likes Ole Miss and Pittsburgh in the Sugar Bowl, Alabama and Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl, and Georgia and Iowa in the Capital One Bowl. Feldman picks Ole Miss and Brigham Young in the Sugar Bowl, Alabama and Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl, and Georgia and Ohio State in the Capital One Bowl."

Link to above mentioned ESPN bowl projections: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowlprojection?season=2009&week=0

I think I will just go watch my son march at the TCU games and see how they end up this year. Last year they began the season ranked 17 and ended up 7, defeating undefeated Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl. Only losing to undefeated Utah and Oklahoma. I have no idea how they will fare this year but I am told they should do pretty good. Not national champion good but possibly in the top 10 again. We will see.

Oh, where in the world is Texas Tech???????
