No sticky on the 8/23 Geneva Concours? Who's going to this event and does anyone know if there will be a special Ferrari parking lot?

Wish I could go - it was a really great event last year. (Schedule conflict this year.) I just heard from the FCA contact (see their web site) and it looks like they're going to have another Ferrari parking area like last year. DON'T try to just show up though - as some did last year and were turned away. The registration fee goes towards a great cause, as well as some big honkin' statues for the winners and some great gift bags for everyone that registers a car. (Actually I believe the funds for the trophies and gift bags are donated.) Anyway - it's a great show and I highly recommend it.

I'll be there with my 328. Last year was a great time, I won a heavy trophy, can't have my car judged again for a few more years (show rules), but I still enjoy seeing all the cars and supporting the associated charity, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. Looking forward to visiting with the other Ferrari owners, and talking to the owners of the other cars; especially the pre-war cars.

For the first time, I remembered it was going to be on and I got the day off work! Weather permitting, I'll be riding in on my Triumph..........all 3 miles of it!

I found the link on the Geneva Concours for registration for parking in the club display area but it does not say anything about a registration fee. It mentions donations but does not say anything about what the amount is. FCA website only has a link to the concours website. Can anyone clarify for me what I need to do to have a spot in the the Ferrari lot?

Although Concours Registration is now officially closed and you car won't be judged in the Concours, FCA members can still register for club parking @ www.genevaconcours.net

Follow the link, click on "Application", and then "Click here to download Registration for Special Car Club Parking" Then just fill out and send in your application with a donation to the good cause.

Are we going to try to organize an Fchat group to travel to Geneva and park our cars together? That would be great

I agree. I would be interested in that although I just sent in my information this morning to park in the Ferrari lot.

They have onsite registration and it was $50 to park. The registration closes very quickly as they limit the amount of cars to be exhibited. There's no guarantee that if you mail in your money that your parking creditials and gift bag will arrive in time. Most had to park BEHIND the court house where there is no foot traffic and hardly anyone parking there. Last year when we arrived, there was a ton of open parking, so we all parked there and walked around. When we came back there were 3 police officers and a tow truck on the way to tow 4 Lambos 3 Ferraris and 2 Porsches. They had us blocked in. There were no signs or anything saying that you couldn't park there. After talking a State Trouper who was also there, he said they had no jurisdiction to be towing our cars. Is this anyway to encourage people to bring their exotics?

I saw you guys getting treated poorly last year - they could have handled that wayyyyy better. However, if you sign up for club parking and contact Neill Osgood at the FCA (see previous post above) your credentials and gift bag will be there waiting for you when you show up and sign in. The FCA ran a nice little Ferrari parking area last year and things went very smoothly for everyone that signed up and showed up early enough before the event to get parked behind the ropes. Due to what happened to the Lambo's, etc. that showed up last year I wouldn't count on any on-site registration - get registered now and contact Neill at the FCA so you know you'll have a spot, and show up early.

So what's going to happen this year? $50 for parking our cars for a few hours seems unnecessarily steep. I can think of many other ways to spend $50 in much more enjoyable ways.

Have we reached some kind of agreement with the organizers? Otherwise I'll just drive in the BMW and park it with the generic visitors.

Ok last time I'll chime in on this. The Geneva Concours is a charity benefit for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In order to register your car to be shown the minimum donation was $50 and the deadline for that has passed. If you'd like to show your Ferrari with the FCA, your Porsche with the PCA, or park within another club's assigned parking area you still can sign up as a club car - but your car won't be judged. I don't believe any donation is required, but the show is a benefit for a good cause so you might want to open up your heart and wallet a little. There is still time to sign up a a club car - just see the web site or follow the posts above - it's not complicated at all.

This is a Concours - not a "cars & coffee" meet or local car show. You can't just show up. They close down the streets of their town for this and there will be cars of the featured marque (Rolls Royce this year) from around the country. For a small local Concours it is a really well run show and you'll see a lot of interesting and very unique pieces of automotive history.

If a Concours isn't your thing and you just want to show up when you'd like and leave before the show is over, you should park outside the show (plenty of street parking) and go see all the great cars for free. If you want to be a part of it - register as a club car and plan on staying the day so all the families and kids can enjoy seeing your vehicle and the show in general. Its a great show and should be a great day for everyone - no matter how you choose to enjoy it.

I may be a little fuzzy on Illinois law, but I believe when a "Donation" is required to attend an event it can't be mandatory, it can only be made as a suggestion but not a requirement.

Where as a registration fee is completely different. I do agree, the donation is for a good cause, as I freely give every year.

Having just sorted this out myself with the help of Neill at FCA, you can park in the FCA club lot if you pre-register per the website. No donation is required. Haviing just sent mine in last week, I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll get in terms of creditentials before the show. I'm just trying to avoid door dings and tows.

I will make an independent donation, I didn't know it was for a good cause. That's $50 well spent. Anyway, is there a meeting point/time for the FCA group? I'll bring my Gransport

Hehe, I'm glad you like my photos :D I took those first 4 shots of the Scud, F512M, 575 and 308 row.

I live in St Charles, right next to Geneva so I will definitely be there! I had a blast last year and my favorite car from the event was the F512M.
