I have used paintscratch.com. Convenient, fast, easy to use... Results will really depend on how meticulous and patient you are.

The stuff you get at Wallymart is almost an exact match for touch ups.(can't really tell) It's the Toyota red.

Tornado red for a VW is also a pretty close match from what I have read. I used Paintscratch.com and they ship it along with a small bottle of the clearcoat. My 348 was single stage paint and by using the clearcoat (first time mistake only) you could spot the touch up form a pretty fair distance (maybe 10 feet). After that mistake I always just used the color coat, and applied some www.langka.com blob remover about 4-7 hours after the touchup. The touch ups using this color coat / langka method are only visible if you know where they are.

Using the paint code number, my autobody guy produced an exact computer match. After drying two days I take an eraser covered with a piece of old t-shirt soaked with polish and go over the spot gently. Wipe, wax and gone.

paintscratch.com can mix up Rosso Corsa as single stage, just like your original paint.

Matches the factory single stage on my 328 perfectly.

+1. Any body shop will mix you up a small bottle that matches perfectly for nominal cost or for free.

Agreed i use paintscratch.com on my 86 328 and it is a perfect match. I usually ruff up the spot with a ceramic detail pencil and use the small daubers [Griot's] for percision application. It matches the car exactly.

    hi,
my bodyshell workshop gave me a smaal bottle of touch-up paint ( with a small pencil include in the bottle cap). I must give some paint touches on very small painting cracks (approx 2 mm diameter size). My question is : do I have to prepare the (de painted) surfaces with some degreasing product ? What product do You advise ? I am afraid of hurting the painting around that surfaces if I use a product too powerfull.
    thanx

I odrered from www.paintscratch.com too. I haven't used it yet on my car but I painted a sample swatch on a separate small panel and it was a good match.

The disappointing thing is that they let you select the product using the model and year. They are the seller and should know to ship the correct product if they allow you to order this way. Getting some clear coat when I ordered using the model and year led me to belive I was supposed to be using that stuff. It was one of the few blemishes on the exterior after I applied it.

The hard part is that it seems like some late-80's Ferraris are painted with single stage and some are painted with 2-stage. At least that's what I've heard. If a car's been repainted it's probably 2-stage. It's easy to tell what you have - just lightly rub some cleaner wax or fine buffing compound on an inconspicuous place. If the cloth stays the same color, you have clear coat. If the cloth turns the color of your paint, you have single stage.
