Yeah, there's always that! When the potential daily stock losses start to look as though they could exceed my monthly covered call premiums, I pretty well tend to have to go to cash to get out and get my senses back again.

I would suggest getting a used e46 M3 -- it's plenty fast, fun, and cheap. You can pick one up for $25k. Buy it cash.

Work hard at your job and save, save, save. Live beneath your means right now. Be prepared to take a big chance with your career. You have no kids, no wife, no home -- it's perfect. You can handle a lot of risk right now.

My 06 430 gearshift coupe had 193K sticker, and I have also owned a M6, it is certainly not a Ferrari, but not a bad car, and it is way more practical, if it is to be your only car.

i don't know you and im new here, but it sounds like you have a dream and a goal. i don't care if your real or if this is a joke thread. you know what you want, but it seems like your letting it consume you...A lot of the guys on here are offering good advice between calling you a fake and running a crusade against you.
Like i said i honestly don't care if your the "real deal" i agree with most of what is being said. you just graduated from Harvard (MIT FTW) so you probably have student loans and all that trash, right? i would work on paying those back and buy a less expensive car whether it be a honda, BMW, mustang, stock vette pre 06, E55 amg pre 05, or something you could pay cash for/pay off in 5 months or less. Then SAVE SAVE SAVE i still put money in the bank every month and i make WAY WAY less than you. My college is paid for, my daughters college is already paid for, and also my wife's college. So i don't have the student loans (nor an f-car).
take your time in getting things that are vain.There is plenty of life to be enjoyed without them.
You probably won't listen to me being that i'm young, but leasing is about as stupid as you can get. another thing you might think about is ummmm... how about a 05-06 f430? they're around 130k on ebay right now. and in dealing with car salesmen everything is negotiable even their souls...it costs them $$$ to keep it in their inventory so they're motivated to make a sale for several other reasons. I mean would you walk into a whore house find the least used one with AIDS/HIV and say I'll give you 3 mil for 2 mins or would you take the clean slightly more worn in cougar for 300?

yes/no....my dad went there, but i visited both schools on occasion while living in Wayland. the difference in people going to either college is what makes me like MIT more. i got really tired of the group of guys i knew at Harvard always talking down to anyone not going to Harvard.
for whatever its worth i still read my Dads MIT MBA books as i will need the knowledge later in life for something...what i don't know, but i'll figure it out later on down the road.

 

i'll give props where they are due.
Harvard is the route to go for law/ medicine.

 

Sidebar: Harvard Law taught that the SCOTUS would rule that the 2nd Amendment covered only collective, not individual rights...completely missing the U.S. v Heller SCOTUS ruling.

Harvard has egg on its face from the recent Presidential arrest, the Heller SCOTUS ruling, and the massive losses in the Harvard Endowment Fund.

since this thread has made a left turn into the swamps of hell, what do you think of IVY league vs "regular" college?

IMHO the college doesn't matter as much, but its what you put in you get out. I'm not in anyway saying a community college is on the level of education of Harvard, but i think that you can get as good an education from "regular" colleges if you put the time and energy into them.

 

Harvard could literally teach not a single thing and I would still chose it over any other MBA simply for the networking possibilities (which is the only reason you get an MBA in the first place).

 

but this is true with any college. If you are inactive with the college though your chances will still plummet "networking possibilities" in either situation.
