Have a go in any old 1960's front engined V12. It is a totally different driving experience to the modern 12 cylinder cars. You may well be disappointed, you may love it. I have never been in a 250 GTO; but can't help thinking that no car could possibly live up to that sort of reputation.

Personally, I love the older cars :)

RERBC compared to what - Porch(sic)? No comparison IMHO and I've spent quite a bit of driving time in a similar vintage 911. Any idiot like me can get an Fcar like a 308 through a corner, Stuttgart tractors need a whole different set of skills (which many owners lack). Fear is no substitute for fun in my opinion.

goodness golly gee....sorry...i can't agree with that!

my experience would suggest that a normal road going porsche will still be gripping when a normal road going ferrari will have run off the edge of the road and into the nearest fence!

    agree with that.
Most if not all owners/drivers whom crash are 1st time owners, the cars have fantastic grip, its just people explore the limits to high or have little idea as to how to drive them.
As much as I enjoy my old Jag,its not in the league of a well sorted post say 1970 Porker.

Sh?t I,m almost sorry I started this bit.To throw a real spanner in the workings,
the last time I did T/Tas was in a..................................Volvo 122s.
    Not only in our class but in category(it,s a bit involved)we came 4th...behind a Marcos,2x240Zs(280 engines)ours is a 2.1 ltr.
In the process we passed/overtook on the road,Ferrari 308GT4(Reark...actually98)he was in an MGCGT that year....come to think of it we,ve overtaken Jim just about every time....
    a 2.7 Porch,2.4Porch,various other marques that we shouldn,t have(on paper)
In the end it comes down to what you feel comfortable in...for me it,s front engine rear wheeldrive.

Yeh the only thing holding them up is their over-engineering/saftey/weight.Put a
more suited engine in they,d be very interesting.

Regret I can't comment - Uncle Ray very kindly offered me a drive in his 330 once but I had a blinding migraine and had to decline...

Guess it's just what one gets used to - I scared myself numerous times at low speeds in the 911, never happens in the 308 on the road (track is a different story!). And yes, I'm quite willing to admit it's my skill that's lacking!

911s easy to drive, its the classsic late brake in a straight line and nail it as the corner opens up.maybe I was spoilt as most of my race cars were rear engine open wheelers apart from the Mustangs.

you dont think a carby 308 is simple? i think you'll find a V12 is a little more complex...but not a lot...it's the same but more.
