I did the same, but it only took me 18 months because I was earning well over 6 figures at the time because of how many hours I was working.

I wish I could do it again, but my work doesnt allow overtime anymore. We get paid a salary and work 4 days on 5 days off.

If I COULD still do it...........id have more Ferraris in the garage.

Congratulations on your car, and kudos for setting a goal and working hard towards it. The world could use more people like you. I absolutely love the 355 and think it will be the next Ferrari I buy.

Don't worry about those that may try to rain on your parade. Some folks just don't feel "fulfilled" with their life until they get to piss in someone's Cheerios that they feel is somehow below them. 99% of the Ferrari folks I have met are great people, don't let the few bad apples spoil the experience for you.

If you aren't already into working on your own cars, start learning with the simple stuff and tackle the things you are comfortable with. This site has a wealth of knowledge in the technical sections. For one, you can save a lot of money that way, plus you develop a much deeper appreciation for the engineering that went into these wonderful cars.

 

was all set to post a "congrats", and "OP, you are correct" then see it go south and he, only on. SIXTH post having to tie up the armour....then some good guys coming to the rescue.

I'm a 'working stiff' ..not rich, [albeit, have made some good investments] ..NOT a great DIYer....[ok horrible DIYer], made the typical mistakes EVEN with the best of prior knowledge NOT to do so, in acquiring Ferrari, and still am very thankful for having 'done it' as you say, go for the desire/dream......each his own....afterall It's your life, not the 'other' person's.

I see nothing wrong with it. Not everyone feels the need to get married, have 2.3 kids, and buy a house with a white picket fence. It's not sad. No where did he say that he doesn't date, have any friends, etc. Now he also has a Ferrari which obviously was a dream to him.
