My under dash relays seem welded into their sockets. Assuming they are originals, is there a tool or method to remove them without damaging or destroying the original relay? I am working on a cold start problem ( must use 1/2 throttle like a hot start) and was going to try a new relay in the fuel pump and fuel pump start spots to see if this would solve the problem. After running the car for 35 minutes today, the fuel pump relay was very hot to the touch which I thought was odd. Anyway, is there a method to remove the relay without resorting to pliers or something?

I had to use needle-nose pliers on some of mine. No biggy. When I had them out I coated all the terminals (and fuses) with some copper-based "electrical grease."

The difficult removal is probably caused by some corrosion. The grease should help keep that from forming in the future.

I've had to pry mine out using a screwdriver and rocking them, starting at the end relay and working my way inward but keeping track as I removed them. Unplug the battery ground before doing this just in case the screwdriver touches something ugly.

Can EULK328 post the proper brand name of the 'copper based' grease. Sounds like something for the kit.

    This is what I use:

I'm sure there are other brands/versions that work just as well.
