4% enzo's gone up in smoke

Crashing your Enzo is so last year..

 

I think this report is so old, it might be last year.

 

the report says June 15,2009, this is Aug so thats two months ago

I wouldn't count on accurate information from Wrecked Exotics. First, there are nearly 500 Enzos (not the proposed 400 from the factory), and Wrecked Exotics isn't factoring in the majority of totaled Enzos that have been rebuilt. Those two facts make a difference with the percentage.

 

Do you know of an instance where an Enzo has actually been written off and not rebuilt, to date? I've read multiple cases where a combusted or destroyed Enzo ends up getting a full rebuild, but haven't heard of any being gone for good.

 

The one in Monterey County did not get rebuilt. I am not sure about the crash in Italy but I believe all the others were rebuilt.

 

In fairness to WE they do not say totaled, they say wrecked. It does make it a correct statement on their part, the factories prestidigitation with the production numbers not withstanding.

 

I better buy one soon then!!

 

Pardon my formless retort' but I used to own and drive a modern rebuilt sports coupe and all I realised was that a rebuilt car can never be like the ones out of the factory. And I have heard unanimous replies from many owners of rebuilt sports cars. So I am a little baffled as to why rebuild a high calibre sports car ?

 

Surely the one in the OP (agreed, many times posted here) is HISTORY at this point.
There really is NOTHING there to be restored... if so, not sure HOW.

In this particular case, the factory is the one rebuilding them (except for one specific well-known case in which a high-quality shop in Texas did a rebuild) so there's not much loss to the integrity or performance of the vehicle.

In regards to why - the cars are so unusual and so valuable that rebuilding them makes financial sense. Since the Enzo cost ~$650k when new, it's very likely it could be built for some percentage of that - say $500k all told. But today, it's worth around $1 million, meaning if you could rebuild it for $500k or even slightly more, it's still worth doing the rebuild, even once you factor in lost value.

 

I heard rumour of 1 enzo somewhere in the NE, that was never damaged, but rebuilt as something else...

 

End result - > one less enzo on the road. . .

Those are some Sal had. We don't normally cover but during the move in we are.

 

An Enzo in Houston was in the same condition but it was rebuilt by the factory. It's back on the streets now.

 

Ferrari was brilliant to build an indestructible car! Classiche will be profitable in perpetuity.
