No offense man... but you are definitely being kind of an A** Hole in an otherwise helpful forum. Whether he is fake or not it doesn't matter. Your point was made a long time ago and you should probably let it go. As far as your point 5) goes... who the hell cares... I'm pretty sure there are stranger usernames, and unless your last name is Strang then you misspelt Strange in your own...
On the contrary, it does matter if someone is lying or telling the truth. There is a way to settle this. Would TheRari be so kind as to update his profile to include his real name? It would be easy for the good members of Fchat to validate your claims of graduating Summa cum laude and earning a Harvard MBA. How did you earn the distinction? Did you submit a thesis, grade point average, etc? Personally speaking, if I earned my MBA from Harvard, I wouldn't hide my identity.
Well I guess I saved alot of money on school, and even more important, know almost all the words to every Dead song. This 9th grade grad, has owned over 250 cars including 4 Ferrari's, 39 Porsches, 3 Maseratis 16 BMWs, 9 Mercedes, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I can also do math, spell, though my typing does suck. The funny thing is most people assumed I must have want to some fancy school, and when I would tell them the truth, they were amazed. I guess a few hundred Dead shows, and some fun time with Captain trips can be quite an education. I can not figure out why people come on here with this crap.
Obviously not a requirement here to fill out the profile questions. I've had several quality guys here tell me they leave it pretty vague for valid reasons. If the guy wants to stretch, or tell the truth, up to him. That's what the fchat police are for. DM
At the risk of sounding (well) "parental", WTF are you talking about? If you are "lonely" get a dog or a bird. A car is not a "companion". I don't know how secure your job is but now is not the time to add expenses. Leasing or buying a Ferrari makes sense when you don't have to ask about payments or maintenance. Contrary to what some may say, owning a Ferrari costs money. In this economy and these times, save money don't spend it. Why not "buy a friend" (whatever your disposition) for a few hours at a time. It's a "fixed expense", with no maintenance or upkeep. Best
Its ok man there's always one loud mouth jackass trying to piss in someone elses cereal. I didn't come here to appease people like him and gain their approval. If he had half a brain I would know I'm not a pog. That would mean I could spell. I made my screen name the way I wanted it fwiw.
If you two who seem to want to exert such influence on this forum would be so kind as to subscribe to "silver", then you would access to the place where a lot of this is explained. (And I too made my screen name for a reason, so really cant fault rebel that one.)
What is silver? I don't have any desire to hold influence here, but there isn't any reason to be an ass to someone who is just asking a question.
There are three different levels to membership in FChat, standard, Silver, and Rossa. The first, which is your current level, is free. The other two cost a little bit but also come with more services and abilities. The most valued is perhaps the ability to see the subscribed forums where a lot of useful information is contained in not just the Ferrari world but also business and politics as well. Here is a link to better describe them: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/payments.php
Oh ok. I am not to worried about business or polotics. I tend to do tons of my own research on anything before I make any kind of decision. Worked well for me so far. Us there anymore info of the models of Ferrari's in the subscribed sections
I want to apologize if any of my earlier comments came off as me being a complete dick. I wasn't intentionally making stabs at you because obviously you know your stuff and are a more prestigious member than myself. I also wasn't meaning that it didn't matter if he was fake or real, but simply that people such as myself can still come out of this thread with valuable information. As for paying for a silver subscription... I would love to but at this point I have quite a few expenses in my life such as school, living, etc., and adding other expenses just isn't practical (even if it isn't much money). I do love to be a part of this forum though because of all of the valuable information that is here and my ultimate goal is to own a Ferrari some day. So I apologize as coming off as ignorant. I do know quite a bit about Ferraris but I appreciate all of you guys added input... most of the time
FerrariChat is a wonderful forum. As you've already mentioned, there is a wealth of information from Ferrari owners and fans. Most questions are answered quickly. I recall a situation where an Fcar owner was stranded in a parking lot after the valet "disabled" his Fcar. Several minutes later, after posting an urgent question from his phone on Fchat and an informed member responding, he was off and away in his car. Now there are other types of questions which appear suspect. Long time members are experts at spotting BS and trolls. I am not accusing TheRari of BS, but 16 posts into his very short membership, he's talking about his summa cum laude and MBA from Harvard. I share some skepticism in his credentials. This is why I invite TheRari to prove his credentials after he offered it publicly. Having another Ivy League educated member (which I am not) on Fchat would certainly be an asset to Fchat. But if he's lying, that's what the Fchat police are for.
I am not quite sure what relevance wealth or education has on this forum I can understand someone being "informed" about Ferrari's and motor cars in general. Maybe I don't get it, but I would not "upgrade" this forum based on either a school someone attended or their bankbook. From personal experience I can tell you I have happier memories associated with a Volkswagen than 3 Rolls Royces I owned at various times. I have also found that many "beer drinkers" are more interesting than Martini Drinkers, without stereotyping either. Comparing my gold watch to someone elses lost its appeal 20 years ago. I don't know why people lie about their status except insecurity and what good it does anyone here (except feed a fantasy life), but , at the end of the day, if their "information" is valuable I'll take it and no matter what their background, if not, I will leave it. Climbing off my soap box, I like this forum, learn allot, and have gained respect for many through their contributions. Best
For me, it always goes back to credibility. As a subscribed member, I enjoy reading the Business & Investments forum. If a member talks about stocks and investments, I'd like to know if the person is credible with credentials to back up his/her analysis, or is the member pumping and dumping? But I digress...
Well you know in order to own a Ferrari you have to first own a Ferrari AND be a silver subscribed member too.
Brandon, no harm no foul. We in the FChat police often get called on the carpet by new people that do not understand our work. When you run a forum like this, you attract a fair amount of kids and not a few adults that try to BS their way in to the group. Some succeed before getting called on it, and the problem is they can cause some real world trouble esp if they are "seen" as an expert in something or other. (Like stock brokers or lawyers even retired college professors) We take our lumps, and are on occasion wrong. But it is rare and this guy is not passing a very refined sniff test. Obviously there is no need to subscribe till you feel you want to. And the vast volume of Ferrari data here is free to all!
Thanks for seeing that I truly meant no harm. I try to get on and read a little Fchat every day and it has helped my passion for these cars to grow more and more. Ferraris have been my "first love" ever since I was about 10 and I want to thank you guys for making my relatively short membership a good experience. I love being on a forum where people are older and more experienced than myself as apposed to every other person being a "I effed your mom you stupid noob" type of person lol.
Believe me when I say I know of what you speak regarding knowledge/experience, on the other hand the voters did the same thing , they (not me) "trusted (now) President Obama, who has an impressive background, including Harvard , Illinois Legislator, and appearing to be very disciplined, carismatic, and intelligent, however he is idealistic to a fault, inexperienced, impatient, and void of an original idea. He has appointed more "Czars" than Russia ever imagined. I still think the op should not buy or lease a car and whether he graduated kindergarten or not is irrelevant to me. Best
OTOH, given ~3400 views in 3 days, the OP probably got what he was looking for. That is an amazing number of views/day for this forum! Jeff
