It had to happen sooner or later. I was out in central London last night and when I got back to my car found someone trying to rip off the Challenge badge from my car!!! Fortunatly he didn't damage the paintwork or the badge, but if I had got there just a minute later, the badge would have been gone. As most of you know, it's a very rare badge and the last one that was sale that cost me over $500. What's worse is that this guy appears to be a regular poster on Fchat as he seems to know all about my car and it's mods. While he was trying to remove it, I managed to take some photographs of him. Anyone recognise him? He has an American accent. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sincerely hope this is a joke. If not, you should have kicked the crap out of him. What the hell did he say when you walked up? Any pics of his face? That is just messed up. Please tell me that this is a joke Sy. I hope it is.
He looked a little embarressed. I tried to take a picture of his face, but he turned away from me and pretended to be looking into the Ferrrai showroom whilst giving me the finger!!!. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh man, that just makes me sick. If he is an American, I would like to say I am sorry to be from the same country as such a piece of crap. I am glad that you caught him. Did you try to follow him to get any info from him? Tag number? Anything? I must say that you are more of a gentleman than I. I would be sitting in jail right now after the cops pulled me off of his dead A$$.
I agree. I regret not confronting him more strongly, but he looked like an ex-marine or something so probably better that I didn't as I probably wouldn't be able to use a keyboard.
You are probably right. You never know when some guy is a psycho type that could snap. In your language, "What a wanker!".
WHAT AN A**HOLE!!! Maybe you should have embarrassed him by yelling loud enough for everyone to hear like "hey are you trying to steal something off my car" or something to that affect
Sy, shocking behaviour, although he's got his back turned I think I may recognise him, sure I've seen him around on this site before
Any pics of his face? He needs to be outed. Stealing from a fellow Ferrari owner and FChatter is just plain low.
You are to be commended for your restraint. In that situation I would have taken a photo so his relatives could identify the body...
Am I* the only one, that smells something "Fishy". It appears that the headlights are activated on the Ferrari. Wall in front very brightly illuminated by headlights. He is a Marine(?), yet you get within a couple of feet and he doesn't notice you?. Instead of yelling at him from a (safe Distance?) you get close and take a picture?. He supposedly is a "thief", yet remains and "Flips you Off?".....To "all" that believe this story.....I would like to sell you London Bridge......."NO" checks!!!!!......Mark.
You should have taken off your glove, slapped him across the face with it, and said "Sir, you have offended my honor and I challenge you to to a duel!". Marines are all bark and no bite.
I'd say it is a farce as well. Looks like the flash has gone off on the camera and I would think someone thieving an item would certainly look up after that... Not to mention the TAILLIGHTS are lit!!!!
Problem with confronting a drunk like that, is they might be unpredictable. Getting his shoe knocked into your door or something like that might be worse than the original crime. But again, good question about the lights Sy. Why were they on?
My 348 has been playing up lately and on occasions I'm unable to switch the rear lights off. Seems theirs a problem with the relay/fuse or something. When I parked the car up last night in the garage I had to disconnect the battery. Damn Italian electrics!!!
Right here in the UK hmmm... that may explain why he was also trying to remove the rear light grill as well. Perhaps he needs that for his 348 too??? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Careful with that broad paint brush! I might be sleazy, but never crummy. You folks know it was me, right? Sy and I met up last night in London and went for a sightseeing tour and dinner. What a treat! I must confess, his 348 is simply unbe-frickin amazing. 360 Sport seats, raucous exhaust, pulls like a mother-bear, loud as hell, and amazingly clean. Those tall Euro plenums are a sight to behold. I was up at QV-London today (very cool shop -- everyone's F355 manifolds are in great hands) and thought that area was especially nice. Probably pretty damn expensive, given all the Astons driving around and polo fields. Tonight is Paul Hill's party, then back home in the morning. I think my total time on the ground here is less than 42 hours. I need to come back for one of the Scudrunner meets.
