1st off i have to say this car is too fast for city streets.

Many a times, i be hauling a$$ and some cab or bus cut in front of me thinking i was 20 cars back. The sheer speed of this thing baffles ME!! let alone the other peeps that are just going home.
The second i stomp the throttle toward an opening in traffic, the next im there with the others thinking where the hell i came from!! Like i said, im even surprised how fast i got there. its almost star trek like!!!
The brakes are good of course to stop me in time and avoid hitting the scared & confused.
But the chassis under this shoot and stop exercise isnt as good as the 430. In the sport setting, the nose still lifts, dives, and rolls, so it is not flat and stable as the 430. Which is less confidence inspiring and feels unsafe. Car control isnt as great too.

It is also too fast for me to enjoy the driving or speed.
U glide around in a 430, fast but smooth from gap to gap, corner to corner, thinking like a hero, but with the 599, u stomp ur way thru blasting out gaps and holes, ripping apart time continuum, creating black holes in space, and after u arrived, u have no idea what just happened, no enjoyment, no sense of "oh-that-was-a-nice-move", no pride in u got a nice car, except u cant cope with the speed.
U even power slide unintentionally in the lower gears with every punch GOING STRAIGHT, people on sidewalk cafes run for their lives when they see u coming.... not knowing u have the awesome e-diff on ur side.

Apart from the stupendous or retarded speed, one of the biggest turn offs for me is the exterior design of the side fenders, especially the rear ones. It looks like a mass produced car with the indent circling the wheels. After hand washing and showing some love over the weekend, i found out all the body panels are designed to stamp together with mass and easy production in mind. NOT what i thought a ferrari should be.
Nothing like what im used to from a 430 or 612 with which everything is carved from one piece of solid metal into a sculpture.

I think the best angle is from the front and around the fronts only, even the flying buttresses they called the c-pillars look stupid and the frame windows there look cheap as i mentioned before.
But the front of the car is just awesome, aggressive, and eat ur 1st born MEAN!
yea... the worse angles are the rear fenders AGAIN, i dont mind the big a$$, but that fender is killing me. Unless its bright white like the one i saw earlier, red looks terrible.
However u dont notice how bad that rear fender is in pictures.
U can stare at 50" screen professional photos a billion times and wont notice it, i know i didnt.
So u have to buy one to know that they put a main stream car's fender on the sides of a ferrari!
I make it sound terrible, because it is! especially when i see my 612 and 430 parked next to it.

The LED steering wheel, 4pt. belts, full power seats and switch gears are all wonderfully comfortable. U NEED these things on ur side when u are warping thru time u know.

So far, i think im liking my 612 more because the two are so similar, just the big 99 delivers everything in excess. Excess power, excess sound, excessive wheel spin, excess tunnel vision speed, excess everything....
And i like the ride better in the 612, the 599 feel like a pit bull with french manicured toes, and it doesnt glide around the ring like Ali, so in other words, its confused.
Its not comfortable unless u get off ur butt and push the time travel button, and when u do, the brute force of the engine just devours everything. Leaving nothing, no other feeling behind. Or its just too MEAN to be locked down in a chained cage.

Ok, im done, i just wish they put that engine in the 612 or drape the 612 skin over the 599's engine and shorter chassis........ lucky i have both, otherwise i'll be very unhappy.

I'm still trying to figure out whether you think it's GOOD, BAD or INDIFFERENT .. as it sounds like it's a little bit of each. I haven't spent enough time in the 599 to give an opinion, so I'll just sit on the fence and enjoy your pictures.

its an Enzo with a GT look and suspension, so it works both ways, good and bad. Nothing is perfect i guess.

Thanks for the insight - my 612 has the HGTC pkg. which seems to do the job for me. I was thinking of switching to the 599 but now see no real reason. Prior I owned a CL65 and the 630 hp and torque literally exhausted me from really driving the car. It was just too fast to play on the streets as it seems the 599 just overbears with power and lacks driver confidence.

As far as the looks go - the 612 is a true time machine of elegance / sport / style / ride and while the long lines go on forever, the mid engine design works.

At the end of the day - Ferrari has to give owners a reason to buy a different model. No offense but they gotcha!

jumping from the 599 into the 612, it immediately feels slow but smoother in all transitions. The softness of the suspension actually works FOR the 612 where roads arent that great where im from.
I dont think the 65 feels anywhere near as fast as the 99, because everytime i stomp it, it just leaps frogs into the next time zone, not PULLed thru like big mercs always feel.

Since u got the HGTC i dont think u need the 599, but please dont drive one, because the power will leave u wanting more.

After letting it sit for a week while im getting bullied by the mighty 99, I jumped into my 612 an hour ago, and it does feel really slow and too relaxed, but i get used to it in 2 days and probably tell u its the best thing since sliced bread, then get scared sh!tless AGAIN when i get back into the 99. I can already see that this cycle will help me get away from the ladies. hahaha.
Tint all your 612 windows, sit back and u have something that looks ten thousand times better than anything else. I just did that and i think my eye watered over its sheer beauty ......, or is it the 100 degrees heat sweat??!!!
i know i can only stand that INSIDE the 599 where it looks better than the 612, not by much though. OTOs are perfect really.

If you want a smoother ride put the Manettino in the rain/low-grip setting.

The shock absorbers are softened that way and i find the ride very good (for a sports car at least).

The 599 is an amazing machine. Just got back from a 2500km (1500 miles) trip to Germany. The 599 devours the road. It does everything well from my experience. It's just as happy screaming away towards the horizon in German Autobahns as calmly following the rest of the traffic.

Of course, if you want to start playing "rain" may be too soft.

However, I never push the car where the roads aren't reasonably smooth...so I haven't encountered the dilemma you're describing.

Are the roads in poor conditions where you live?

roads are bad but atleast we dont have pot holes, just uneven streets.
dont get me wrong though, the 99 is an awesome car, the most powerful i ever owned and feels like it too.
Im just pointing out the stuff that i noticed and im known to be very picky, plus i have 2 other wonderful F cars that came before this design, i was expecting more!
now at least i wont get tired of it soon, because the power is finally "enough!" i now wonder why novitec even did a 800hp version.
they ARE crazy or just retarded.

Since you have a 612, I suspect the notion that you should have gotten a CL65 would fall on deaf ears. Hey, not every car ends up being what we think it is. I have done this twice, once with my first 550. Got tired of it and went for a 355F1. The only difference is that I called and ordered another 550 on my way home from the dealership!

Wait another month and report back. I you're still hating life get a Scud and/or wait for a 458. :):)

i have a feeling that i will like the 99 more and more as time goes by, especially the explosive power. I just wish the same goes for the rear fender design, i hope i get used to that, not likely, but i can wish.
yea, my scud is coming soon, and i cant wait for the 458 too! luckily they make really good cars, so u can always switch!

Seems if you modified the suspension on the 599, dialed it just perfect like a razor, it would be a cream dream in every way. I love how it looks front to rear. And I love silly torque. This seems the car for me.

Just now got in from dinner in the 599. It is so fast and smooth. It is truly almost too fast. I find the suspension just fine. It works for me. I put the capristo exhaust system on the car and it just screams and sounds great. As I have said before , the more I drive it the better I like it.
