I have just bought a 1969 Citroen Ds. I had to sell my Merc W123 1984 to afford this "Goddess". The Merc needed a major on the auto-gearbox, would have been more than what I paid for the car.
The Citroen is quite unique, I have to admit. I have of course bought a front wheel drive car now.....(other than my Opel run around~ transport, not a car). However, I hope to be able to live with this because it's a Citroen DS!
Anyone else here got one? What do you think of it?
I have to complete, or re-do the started project of total re-wiring. Why didn't they just fix the existing wiring????? [Then I wouldn't have got it cheap]
I am a died-in-the-wool petrol head, so I look forward to it all.
Love to hear your views and comments.

A truly unique classic. Appears on many top designer's top-10 lists. Convertibles are pushing $200K+.

    Lovely cars! Owned 3; I960 ID 19, '67 DS 21, '71 DS 21 Pallas.
Bought the ID w/240k miles in 1969, had been from Anchorage Ak to Tierra Del Fuego, driven by 2 lady schoolteachers! (with real brass ones BTW!).
After that the DS were "Sunday" cars. Good for my el cheapo teen travels tho, roll the seats down and pass on the motel.
Good friend just got a '71 from Canada with the non-US turning headlights. Dark green and natural leather.
    Enjoy!

I love those cars, everything about them, except their rust factor. Very slow, but so much fun to drive, congrats. ;)

Citroen are great cars, I owned a Maserati engined SM, and it was an amazing car, be sure to get the hydraulics done properly as that is the heart of the car, once properly set up the ride of

the DS is the best of any car I have driven they are amazing, you can even take off one of the rear wheels and the car will drive and corner, it is an engineering marvel

I'm currently in the process of importing a '74 D Super5 in from England. It was originally a French-registered car, so it's left hand drive. The relative rarity of the Super 5 over here means that I should have a 'one of a kind' at most car gatherings, let alone Citroen Club meets :D

Photo Op!!!!! Everyone should get the chance to drive a DS. I smile whenever I see one as it was one of the first cars I drove prior to receiving my license, the high setting was perfect for driving through farm fields...

    Glory days of Citroen.

A whole GENERATION/Lightyears ahead of any vehicle when it was released.

When will Citroen recapture those days?

Look after her doubt you will burn on this.

I was a passenger in a Citroen SM Maserati, enjoyed every minute, back seat room etc was fantastic, first class all the way!

If you can reed and write german, then you must absolutely go to the "www.andre-citroen-club.de" You find there help for any problem, sometimes within a few hours! There are dozens of Citroen fans on-line all the time!!!!
I have a Citroen XM (which is about the closest you can come with modern car to the DS), and enjoy it very much.

Congrats! The DS is on my list of cars that I would love to own. I keep my eyes out but they are very difficult to find here in the US. Congrats again and enjoy it.
