Going thru some of the records on 58331 when putting back in the garage after Monterey and came across a document, in the original envelope, labelled "Circulation Book, Ferrari GTO serial 58331." It was issued by the Ministero Dei Trasporti and the full title is Carta Di Circolazione Per Veicolo Di Escursionista Estero. Under Dati Di Immatricolazione I believe it says the car was manufactured 10/9/85. Have not taken the time to go thru everything but it looks like all maintenance records are with the car as well. Will make whatever records Joe might be interested in available.

    Thanks Maarten.

Unfortunately I have no specific info on the mods Michelotto performed on 58337, but I will be contacting the owner to verify.

Thanks Joe for putting on this event and bringing all of those GTO/owners together. It was nice seeing the pics of Mike and Jane in there as well...I'm sure they had a wonderful time.

I'll be in Indy this weekend for the MotoGP races, and will probably stop by and visit them and listen to stories about the reunion. He owes me a ride in his '67 275 GTB/4, so I'm hoping for good weather!

It was great meeting all the owners & spouses/family members and it turns out that participating GTO owners are quite a group. We had a great time.

Lots of lovely shots of the best modern Ferrari ever! Wish I could have been there in person. Congrat's Joe on organizing this meet.

The understanding I have is that his car was not within the sequence of the standard production run.

It would be nice to put this one to rest! Marcel Massini was at our GTO Reunion and I didn't even think to ask him about this one...

    288 Battery ?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can someone advise what battery one should put in the 288? granted, im all for originality but i do like the battery to be a bit more modern, zero service if possible etc.

anyone know what battery size, and cold cranking amps, and cranking amps to target?

    thx in advance.

Really, I don't know. I haven't had an issue that would make me check it out, but I will check this weekend (Del Mar races allowing!) and advise.

a few fcar shops recommended a MT34R. definately a R reversed posts for sure.
the 34 was too wide though and the stock battery holder/screw/threaded rod wouldnt fit in the limited space between the battery edge and the drilled out/tapped hole on th ebattery cage.

i ended up using a 56 battery, was ok width wise, but a tad tall though got it in there without any touching the battery compartment cover.

i think width wise, looks like anything over 6 3/4 is too wide. 6 is too narrow for the most part, unless you fabricate a new plate for the threaded battery holddown rod that is wider itself to take up the space.

the big issue i think is amps. i dont thnk u want one of these 800 mega amp batteries. i think the car calls for a 300Amp start, so anything too much more i would wonder what kind of adverse impact it might have on the alternator.

if anyone knows more , feel free to chime in. 2,3 good fcar shops had no great answer. all 3 said they used the interstate mT34R which is why i tried it, but , alas, too wide as noted above.
